There's a scary and alarming situation starting to develop.

Lots of rumblings on social media about "hoarders" causing shortages in the stores. I suspect it's coming mostly from the unprepared and socialism-sympathizers out there.

I expect this will soon be followed by demands "for the government to do something". Which means emergency "anti-hoarding" measures implemented.

So--if you have preps, you may be judged a "hoarder". And required to surrender your preps "for fair distribution".

How to deal with this potentiality? I've got a goodly supply of preps.

Remember--preppers like us are a single-digit minority. 90% of the sheeple out there don't have more than a few days supplies--if even that. If they start demanding that "something be done!", they sure aren't going to be outvoted by us preppers.

Advertising before an event occurs is pretty dumb...

Advertising after is Darwin Award level stupid...

To be fair, there are definitely hoarders, which is not the same as a prepper. Hoarders go in last minute and buy up everything in a panic, leaving people that need items (TP, baby wipes) without them.

Those of us who have prepared ahead of time have little to worry about, but I do feel bad for those that got to the stores too late.

Like he said above. The guy in Atlanta that went around in three states and bought all the Hand Sanitizers and was selling it on Amazon for 20 times what he paid. Amazon shut him down
I agree. There's a difference between a hoarder and a prepper. One is simply a dishonest scalper. The other is a person who practiced due diligence and preparation.

What's important is that the masses out there don't see it that way. You've got supplies, and they don't. It won't help to give them some pious excuses like "but I'm a prepper, NOT a hoarder!" They're still gonna grab everything you've got.

Is that why they call them Democraps? They are the only ones who do it?

I thought I'd heard of every piece of overblown political ridiculousness, but this statement wins the day.

If you live in the city expect looting attempts. This is why I got out of the city Friday to our remote location shelter.

I'll be happy to give them some of my bullets, just not they way they're expecting me to hand them over.

But seriously, even if some state governor issued an order requiring everyone with excess supplies to turn them over there would be no way to enforce the ruling. The police and National Guard have better things to do than going door to door confiscating supplies.

Not so much "socialism-sympathizers" as it is boomers and millennials - people who have put their faith in government to solve all problems, although, I have to admit, it was boomers who sustained socialism when it was about to die on the vine.

You can bet your preps that if the supply chain fractures get so bad that order starts to break down, local governments will start house-to-house searches. Anything to hang on to power.

We may be witnessing the beginnings of the Fourth Turning. :D:

I plan to help a few people but on my own terms.

My aunt has a large family and minimal preps, but she had asked me for help some time back and I said I would get to it. I didn't and now this. I feel a debt. After this I will hook her up. We can go shopping at Rainy Day, get some LTS grains and TVP, have a mylar party, put it all up in 5 gb. I still have my hair straightener but I need some more o2's.

I bet that is one survival thing not very popular right now, o2's. Because people are going to be using their preps immediate term and not 20 years later.

Whatever I don't have to drive 20+ km to the grocery store and I can stay at home doing other things because I'm a "hoarder" of supplies.
