WARNING GRAPHIC but it aired on t.v. in the UK............

replica guns being made into real guns???!!!!!
thats the stupidest thing ive ever heard of!!!!

i think it would be easier to build a gun from scratch than to "convert" a toy or metal replica. its just idiotic.

but if you want people to have an irrational fear of weapons, stop them from having ANY exposure to them whats-so-ever!!

What a bunch of BS you cant make replicas real just like you cant make an airsoft gun real either!

What an awful place to grow up being afraid of guns.

It's well known that replica guns are converted to firing weapons in the UK.

A car dealer working in a garden shed converted replica weapons into live submachine guns that were used in a string of robberies and gangland killings.

Grant Wilkinson, 34, adapted and test-fired the weapons in the makeshift factory in a Home Counties village.

He posed as a production worker on a James Bond film to buy the 90 blank-firing replica Mac 10s from a licensed dealer. After converting them, he used his connections with the criminal underworld, to sell the guns with home-made ammunition for up to ÂŁ2,500 each.

Why do you people hate facts so much? Seriously.

A brand of replica gun sold on the high street as a starting pistol is behind a surge in gangland shootings that have led Scotland Yard to deploy armed patrols on London estates, The Times has learnt.

Olympic BBM 9mm revolvers, converted by criminals to fire real bullets, make up 40 per cent of the live-firing guns seized by the Metropolitan Police in the past year.

Despite being relatively easy to convert, the Olympic pistols are legally on sale in hunting, sports and outdoor shops across Britain for £80-90. They are also available on the internet, where one retailer’s blurb states that the gun is “Home Office approved”.

The Times bought one for £85 from a shop in Surrey this week in a transaction that took less than five minutes, and they can be picked up for as little as €35 (£32) on the Continent.

The Olympic BBM 9mm has become the “weapon of choice” for a new generation of gangsters who are now fighting it out for status and reputation in areas of Inner London.
....................................
So-called converters have discovered that the barrel can be drilled out and is capable of firing short-length 9mm ammunition, which is also often home-made.

The orange paint is sanded off and the gun resprayed black before being sold to gangs for ÂŁ550-600.

One police source said that officers had been able to convert an Olympic to shoot live rounds within 24 hours using a “basic B&Q toolkit”.

hmmmm... that is pretty graphic but i dont think that is a real threat. when they de-mill guns dont they fill in the barrels and shave the firing pins? I think this is just another media scare tactic and i dont know if the kids in the Uk are a little off or what but here in kansas my friends and I dont point a gun, replica or otherwise, unless you are ready to destroy that person or object

Who would have thought, if you make guns illegal, only criminals will have guns.
OH WAIT WE DID!!!!!!!!!!!
It doesn't matter if they outlaw toy guns, criminals will just take trips to the hardware store and make one from scratch. Trying to outlaw a technology that has been around for hundreds of years is impossible. These morons forget that semi automatic weapons were around before electricity, and guns in general were around before steam machines (with the exception of machines designed and built by Heron). Any joker who can read and use basic tools can build a working gun, and only criminals will break the law to build them.

You have to remember these aren't "made" replica M10s but M10s that have a modified barrel to fire blanks with.

It's a real firearm first then turned into a firing model by replacing the bbl.

There's also a guy who converted a bunch of blank firing starter pistols by changing the cyliders in them. Of course depending on the model of these starter guns I wouldn't want to fire them too many times.

Or you can take a piece of pipe, a threaded connector, a screw in plug, a nail, a piece of sheet metal, a stick, and a rubber band and turn these parts into a real gun too. SO they need to ban all steel water pipes and ruber bands oh and sticks.

Ya just gotta laugh at these a..holes mentality.

Thought; didn't we "NATO" fight a cold war against the very nature of this type of opression? It now appears that was all in vain. :(

So how many French soldiers does it take to defend France?

No body knows...it's never been done before. *ba-da-bah!*

Really...this just reminds me of my grandfather's old saying..when you outlaw guns, only the outlaws have them. The Sten gun was designed to be made cheaply and with commonly obtainable parts, if someone really wants one they can make them with no real problems. I still prefer the US, where at least we can legally carry them to help defend ourselves.
