i just heard on the CBC news, that the CDN and the USD just reached par.
they have been hovering around that point for a while. predictions are that, by summer, the loonie will be worth more.

great time to travel abroad and to 'buy american'. fellow canucks!:thumb:

See, that's the real benefit of a weak US dollar. A lot of people seem to freak about it, but it encourages other countries to buy US, which causes a swing back toward US production and exports. That will likely help fuel a recovery out of the recession, and towards an eventual strengthening of the USD again.

Rinse, repeat.

$AUD sitting about 92-93 US cents, rumours of parity by Christmas.

Agree with Pragmatists' post.

I went to buy a pair of redwings recently but found most are at least partially made in china now. Not paying $220 for chinese boots with a famous name brand on them.

nice!

this will only last a short time so get busy shopping
A weak dollar means you have a lower standard of living, prices increase.

Nothing like getting paid in devalued money.

The dollar should increase in value, not decrease.

predictions are for the reverse.
the CDN will be going higher.
good time to shop, but there is a downside when our dollar goes up...(in manufacturing & tourism mostly, I think) Great news for me though, heading to Miami soon for a weekend cruise!

If currencies were easily predictable, they wouldn't be as much of a market game. No one knows what will happen months from now.
This isnt really news. The USD and CND have been about on par for a while now.
what was it 3 years ago, 1.15 usd...then it dropped off to .75 usd...i think i will be buying some ameros this week...
We planned a trip down to Maine in June......maybe I'll buy my US coin now......
Brother Canucks I live in Alaska, in fact I go into Canada 3 to 6 times a month. I've been saving all the money I get there. I have a large box full of paper and coin, maybe now is the time to exchange it back into US? I have to go count it.
