What is happening in Greece concerns all of us. The people are paying for a crisis and a debt that are not their own. Today it is the Greeks, tomorrow it will be others, for the same causes will produce the same effects if we allow it.

First and above all, we express our full and unconditional solidarity with the people who are suffering from an austerity plan without precedent combined with contempt and an arrogance bordering on racism. The strikes and demonstrations are legitimate, and we support them. This is not the crisis of the Greek people, it is the crisis of the world capitalist system. What the Greek people are experiencing is revealing of today’s capitalism. The plan dictated by the European Union and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) rides roughshod over the most elementary rules of democracy.

If this plan is implemented, it will result in a collapse of the economy and of peoples’ incomes without precedent in Europe since the 1930s. Equally glaring is the collusion of markets, central banks and governments to make the people pay the bill for the arbitrary caprice of the system. [French President] Nicolas Sarkozy still dares to talk of the need to regulate the market, although all the measures he implements are more liberal than ever. The movement is accompanied by a deadening consensus of the Right and the Left. The plan is designed by European governments of the Right and Left – and by Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the managing director of the IMF, an institution that has ravaged the Third World for decades and is now attacking Europe. A plan that is implemented by a Socialist government, [Greek Prime Minister] George Papandreou's, the French side of which is adopted by the UMP [Union pour un Mouvement Populaire, a centre-right party] and the SP [Socialist Party of France] members of parliament combined.

It's going to be a long hot summer! I expect Spain, Portugal, Ireland, The Ukraine and all the rest to start falling apart.

I was talking to my DW's father tonight, he comes over at least twice a week to feed the ducks and pet my horse (he loves doing that..lol) and he told me that he has never seen such trouble in his life (he's 89 years young).

For the last 8 months suits have been going door to door on behalf of big business and our govt. looking to buy any and all gold that they can get. Never heard tell of anyone looking to buy gold let alone going door to door. Gold is used in the absence of currency, so...

I think its fair to say "The currency will definitely collapse" and all hell will break loose. I'd even guess pretty soon. That'll suck.

Greece is going through what the US will be going through soon enough. This is what happens when Socialist run out of other peoples money to fund bloated benefit packages for lazy government workers and entitlements for societal parasites.

The ultra rich corporate fascist and dirty politicians feel a momentary discomfort then go about their business because their riches are safe.

The wealthy and entrepreneurs just give up under a crushing tax burden that they reap no rewards from.

The middle class and poor that don't already work for or collect benefits from the government lose their jobs.

Everyone is screwed now and demands the same entitlements that all the other slackers have been getting all these years but surprise!!! there aren't enough people paying taxes anymore.

Now they are all mad at the government because they were promised something for nothing and the majority were stupid/lazy enough to buy into it.

Score another win for socialism. And the funny part is they are blaming capitalism.

The same causes will produce the same effects if we allow it. Spending more on entitlements than you collect on taxes.

WOW...I have not heard of that, going door to door!

I don't have any gold other than what's around my ring finger. We do live in interesting times.

A few weeks ago I was walking around outside my house in the evening, my DW was watching the local news in our patio room and she told me as I was walking that she just heard it's going to rain tomorrow....I said I already knew it, I could smell and feel it in the air.

Coming from a socialist news source, I am not surprised when the anti-capitolist propaganda blames everybody but who is most at fault. The laziness and greed of the citizens let it happen, and it will happen here when the good hardworking folks get outnumbered by those with their hand out!

Oh so the Greeks are innocent victims? All I have to say is you can not con an honest man. As a nation they are no different than gullible and GREEDY folks who fall for *****ian mail scams. The Greeks? retire at 55 at full pension? Get two months FREE pay each year? Work if you can but if can't be supported ???? Going into debt doesn't matter? All sounds too good to be true doesn't it?

Pull my finger.

Biker,

You may want to read the book "The Creature from Jekyll Island". It's a good book on the central banks, IMF, World Bank, etc. It very much explains how citizens are being robbed or made to go through austerity because of these wonderful organizations.

PS: The 2nd to last word was sarcasm.

The IMF and the EU are certainly have dirty hands for so many reasons but the Greeks did this to them selves. Low work ethics coupled with socialized government programs. Frankly it's a big ol' told ya so.
