I've been watching this series on the Outdoor Channel, "The Best Defense; Survival". Seems that much of the information is somewhat 'generic', you can't get too specific in just 30 minutes, but I think it's a great introduction and maybe a MUST VIEW for those of us that have family members that havent bought in to the idea of being prepared.

I think it's purpose is in fact to "Be Generic".

For one thing, depending on where you live, the things you need will be drastically different. Florida vs Alaska for example. But more importantly, I think that show is designed to bring people INTO preparedness and not looking to educate someone who is already prepared.

So for that purpose, you dont want to bog people down with too much. Give them a taste and then show them how to get more on their own.
