I am tempted to trade my WASR (+1 magazine) for a Springfield 1911 (+1 magazine) and some extra cash.

I paid $475 for the WASR and I know Springfields already run at about ~800, right?

The only things holding me back:
1) the WASR will only go up in price if the AWB goes into place, though I wont be able to "legally" transfer it once grandfathered
2) I already own a 1911, its a Remington (my favorite gun, though so it only holds me back a little).

Anyone wanna give me their advice?

If you have other AK's and the 1911 is in good condition IMHO trade. However if the WASR is your only AK , no. I'm not so convinced that there will be a draconian AWB passed.

We'll probably see the private sales go away and maybe a ban on mags over 10 rounds. Again, if you have other AK's you are hedging your bet somewhat by thinning the herd so to speak. A Springfield 1911 would be very nice to have indeed ! I see WASR's going for $900-$1000 on gunbroker.

I would keep the rifle if you need longer range and shooting distance. If you need a gun that you can conceal, then think about getting the pistol. So the task you need the gun to do dictates what you should do as far as trading or selling it.

keep the WASR, it will go up in price. Even in the (very unlikely) event that no AWB gets passed Hilary's UN treaty will prevent importation of foreign firearms. Any hindrance on obtaining a WASR will only drive up the price.

I don't see them banning 1911's under any circumstance as they are made in the USA and take <= 10 rd mags. Do note however, that Fineswine's bill would attempt to ban them (semi-auto, detachable magazine, pistol grip, no exemption for handguns under the "assault weapon" rules).
