The anti-viral drug Tamiflu will be rationed as supplies of the drug are running out.

The global outbreak of Mexican swine flu has seen a 10-fold increase in prescriptions for the drug in Australia, even though there have not been any confirmed cases of the disease.

In a normal flu season, about 10,000 courses of the drug are sold.

But in the last week alone, 120,000 courses of the drug were sold and many pharmacies have run out.

This report was published in May.

However what is of concern is repackaging the medication after the expirary date and reselling it with extended shelf life.

It also says that
The TGA says the extension on the expiry date does not apply to drugs that consumers have already bought and may still have at home.

So the gov can have there's repackaged with longer life, but yours isn't good past the expiration date:confused:
