I'm interested in some more gear. I will be getting a large Alice pack for a BOB. I will also be piecing together my own AR-15 soon. :thumb: The advice I would like would be some suggestions of a LBE that I can wear with an Alice pack. I was thinking some sort of MOLLE chest LBE that I can put on enough room for at least 4 AR mags and 2 92FS mags and a KABAR knife. Plus maybe a small first aid kit and some general storage. The reason for all of this is so I can take off the Alice pack and be lean, mean and fully tactical. My problem is that I just can't find anything that fit that description. I can buy all the little things later, but I really need a suggestion on a base MOLLE vest of some sort. Any links and pictures would be greatly appreciated! :D: Let me see what you use in this situation. You people have always helped before and I'm hoping you can do it again. Thanks guys!

Strange you haven't found one you like... I picked up a tactical vest that I wore on patrol back in Alaska at a general sporting goods/hunting store (adjustable shoulder/chest/stomach, MOLLE with belt). 5.11 is a popular brand and thus expensive, but their items are quality and last under pressure. Not to advertise, but I'd check cheaperthandirt.com as well.

Look into some plate carrier vests. They will work even if you don't have armor and if you decide you need plates later you won't have to buy a new one. Just don't put anything on the back or shoulder area and it will work just fine with your Alice pack.

On a side note.... ArcticWarrior were you stationed in AK? If so where and when? I was on Fbanks a few yrs back with the 172nd

I dont really like vests. If i cant put it on my belt then its probably not necessary. Then again im more focused on stealth than combat. Like someone above said, check out Cheaper Than Dirt. They've got a huge selection and you will not find better prices.

Wearing another over the shoulder strap rig setup with pack straps could be a real bitch. A solid vest or plate carrier would work better, but definately with a "lookit me" factor. Take a look at what maxpedition has for a more versatile system. If you are to wear a full size pack and carry a rifle, a shingle is about the only thing you have room for. Of course, placing pouches on the front of the pack straps would help a lot, but kinda limited with alice ruck straps. When you build your pack, use the molle straps.

Thanks guys

Thanks guys. I thought that something with padded straps under a loaded Alice pack would kill the old shoulders. A MOLLE plate carrier would probably be best. I can go undercover, quite and unassuming without much problem. The situation I foresee is needing to be fully loaded out for some sort of tactical situation, not going unnoticed. This is the instance where I already feel the need to carry loaded up AR or tactical shotgun or a rifles over my shoulder and drawing attention is unavoidable. In that case, I want plenty of ammo and other needs close at hand. The need for the Alice pack is if I need to be in a hostile situation and hike out of the red zone or while bugging out I know it's unavoidable to go into/through a red zone. I'm really just doing research right now so I have all my bases covered when needed. Cheaper-than-dirt and US Calvary seem to have pretty good setups. You guys are always a big help! :thumb:

Supreme: I was at Wainwright too ('07-'10 with the 28th MP Detachment -- yep, I'm a POG lol). Now I'm down at the Hood fixing to get out. My wife and I miss the Fairbanks/North Pole area and are going to move back once she gets out.
