Myself and you I'm sure have noticed quite a few designated .22 AR's coming out, and they're pushing hard to sell them. American Rifleman did reviews on these .22 AR's in this month's issue. With what I read these .22 rifles are really no different than your 10/22 or any other semi-auto .22. Mossberg built their version on the 702 Plinkster platform. The main difference is in the price. Mossberg was the cheapest being $264 and the highest was around $600. The average price was around $500. Sorry, but I don't see myself paying $500 for a .22 rifle when I can get one for around $100. With $500 I can add a couple more Ben Franklin's and get a 5.56 AR. Then just get a .22 conversion kit for $250. I guess these gun manufacturers think people with AR's will just succumb to getting a designated .22 AR instead of the conversion kit, or that those wanting a AR rifle will buy one instead of continuing to save their money for the real deal.
