I have a well..which runs into a water softener which gets salt pellets " red out" Then into a tank, water taste very good, However hot water has a smell to it, " magnesium rods in hot water heater" So i have a bunch of empty 2 liters and water storage tanks :) How would I store this for long term 6 month rotation? Any suggestions?

I am on a well also, I just freeze it in 2 liter bottles. Have about 20 in the deep freeze. Works good for camping too, keeps the cooler cold and you can drink it as it thaws.

Bypass the water softener and the hot water heater. The water stayed perfectly good at the bottom of your well and will last indefinitely if stored in a cool dark place. Nothing wrong in the slightest with drinking "hard" water.
