I am going all out this pay day and stocking up on seeds and potatoes while I still can. Seeds will be worth its weight in gold, perhaps will be the only life line we may have once the radioactive fallout contaminates every crop in the USA, Canada and upper Mexico.

Potatoes still in stores were harvested last year, so that is a huge incentive for me to stock up on potatoes as they are not contaminated by radiation. I don't want to take chances.

All I can say is I told you so if you don't stock up now while you still can.

Seeds worth more than gold

Buy your potatoes now while you still can.

How many will go hungry and start looking for food, even steal or kill for it? If everyone will start growing their own, they will not need to do drastic things to get food.

A few friends and I went in together to make a large order for seeds. A few bucks each got us a wide variety of seeds to share and the more who do this will be helping each other out.

Radiation and crops, some helpful information. Only false info is the FDA is monitoring the foods for radiation, this is not happening.

And for those who believe the FDA is looking out for their health, remember there are many deadly chemicals added to foods that the FDA allows and that is not looking out for your health. So why should they care about radiation.

Some other helpful information about radiation and protection. Useful info.

Buying seeds:

I thought this site had its own store to buy seeds from, but perhaps someone can provide a link to that.

Other links if this sites store does not sell seeds or is out of them:

Arkseeds:

Organica seed:

Baker Creek Heirloom seeds:

Heirlooom seeds:
http://www.heirloomseeds.com/

Amazon.com also has heirloom seeds by different companies for sale.

The rest is just a google search away if everyone is out of what you want.

Flame it, deny it, but you cannot escape the facts that radiation will be absorbed in most food grown in the USA, Canada and parts of Mexico. Get it while you still can and get some seeds. It is on the top of my list now.

Is this alarmist and rather panicky post about radiation related to the Fukushima incident? You say to buy potatoes now, but link to a forum post that is months old. What is the source of your urgency?

Apparently that's just his posting style. This isn't the first time I've seen him do it.

Here's another issue with seeds (and I can just feel the angst this will create amongst some of our posters):

If you were going to characterize me, it would be that I like backups, redundancy, spare parts, extras.

I have heirloom seeds like many, but I've bought seeds from three sources. I don't want to put all my eggs in one basket. What if the packaging methods were compromised, or the packages not sealed correctly (I rec'd one package where the mylar wasn't completely sealed, spilling seeds into the box; I collected them, put in bag, and resealed it)?

Or what if those seeds spent 2 days in 100-degree heat in the top of a UPS truck, baking to a nice crisp finish?

So I would suggest getting seeds from two different sources at least, from different places.

Danger and MikeK, to answer your questions the reason I used old and new links is so people get the full picture of what has been going on. The news today is getting harder to find as it is more hushed up about radiation contamination in foods and crops.

So by me posting any other link that helps give a round about picture of what is and has been hidden from public view and not in the news helps prove my point.

Old links shouldn't be the issue, but the threat of radiation is. I just hope everyone is stocking up on those seeds and if they wish those potatoes as well. Not saying you have to do anything, but sharing the knowledge and let it go from that.

Here is another site that shows the increases of radiation over a few months time. It ends with 4/1/2011 and I get the idea it is probably double those numbers today. One I look at most is Idaho, for those Idaho potatoes soaking up that radioactive rain water and its not just iodine-131 in that rain. A big increase. Though this is just showing iodine-131 in the chart.

Seems like another fear mongering website. The radiation network website shows drastically different information.
