I'm in need of a cannister steam vac/extractor similar to this

but far less expensive. I don't want to buy a steam cleaner/mop because I would have to wait for carpet and rugs to dry before vacuuming (with a cannister vac that I'd also have to buy). Upright machines and shop vacs are not an option.

The cheapest refurbished I've found is $999

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Because they cause P-A-I-N
The canisters do, too, but far less.

Are you looking for a carpet cleaner, or just hard surfaces?

Both. The model I linked to does both. Steam cleans and vacs/extracts at the same time on either carpet or hard floors. But it's waaaaaaaaaaay too expensive for me.
