I know this has been covered probably a hundred times but newbies should read the different opinions to make up their minds. I'm of the mind unless you have a small well trained group and a fortified building, no place is 100% defensible and you're going to leave sooner or later. The most you can do when you hunker down in one place is make it very costly for anyone to want what you have. How long will that last?

If SHTF and it takes 3-4 months to get things backt to normal, then hunkering down seem viable. Hunkering down in a community of others who are doing the same is perfect scenario. My opinion, and it's just my opinion, single families need to get out of populated areas asap. Driving around over the years I've come across many temp "way-stations" spots to hold up for a few days to a week until I can get to some state or federal land and go deep. I know it also depends on where you live currently as to your approach. Opinions?

My opinion:

Should something happen... My ass will be miserable:

Sitting outside my building in a pile of leaves with a rifle and my NVG's.

Be there till my buddies show.
