Here are some of my radios I have for pretty much everything from camping, business, safety, SHTF you name it…

The radios that are NOT in the photos are either in the garage or in truck or cars. They are (not in the photos) C Crane Radio Plus, two Cobra CB’s, three Cobra marine radios one in the boat and one for mounting in the truck and another handheld model and one Galaxy CB with Freq meter on top.

wow. thats a lot of radios. looks like a lot of money also... you shouldnt be lonely after TSHTF. Do you keep extras in faraday cages or not worried about EMP?

Reminds me of my stuff in the 70's.
My main radio right now is Galaxy DX88HL, also a Mirage 3300, and may still have a Cobra 29 and a Cherokee something or another. A few kickers, etc..
The Galaxy and Mirage are peaked and tuned but I need to get my base set back up.

I got a two meter base and a portable, but setup to run no matter what. Finding that ham has a lot to offer but I am too busy to move up to general or better.

WOW, you really want to stay connected.

I have a CB, and a Yeasu 8900R quad band transceiver. a few hand held's. a couple of shortwave radios, Nothing like this though.

Thats very impressive. I still need a few things to get the Yeasu operational.

In your opinion, what are the best 2 ways on the market? I have the "32 mile" Mildand GX750s. Have had 2 sets, mostly because I loose radios at an alarming rate while hunting.......Anyway, on water, clear line of sight, those only stretch about a mile or two with batteries right out of the package.

Maybe "2 way" was a little broad.....let's say affordable 2 ways. $100.00 or less.

Thanks Crutch... this means a lot. I was always worry about posting stuff like this because I don’t want people to think I am bragging, in fact I am just showing that getting stuff like this can be done. A little here, a little there one less steak dinner a month at Longhorns, stuff like that can go a long way…

I have been blessed also with sponsors over the years so that helped also but my main point has always been that “You can do it also if you make an effort”

So your post here means more then you know… Did you ever get the Dare to prepare book for your wife?

I would have to say Midlands...(For your price range) The Cobra's are nice but NOWHERE NEAR the 36 mile range.

IF you want to go with a litle more money the Motorola's I have in the photos. I am not sure of the "mile" range for them. These are business radios (Not lic needed type) but they were designed to work through 40 floors of a building...

So they handle signal interruptions better. I used these in our cabin in TN. I was in the cabin on the mountain and my wife was in downtown Gattlingburg in Ripley's museum and we were talking to each other. I use these 99% of the time.

Ebay - Motorola MU21CV I don't think you can get new ones from Motorola now but I may be wrong. Ebay always has nice ones for sale...

And with radios if you don’t have power they are no good so I have batteries…!
I have no idea how many in here there are unopened packages on the bottom and this is three layers thick plus what you see on the edges and in the little packs on top

I have a C Crane. The lcd display went bad, just displays gibberish. It still works but there's no way to tell what frequency you are on. And you can't even tell what band you're on sometimes! The search feature is worthless, it skips over 90% of stations. A real pain in the butt. Have you had any problems like that? I'll never get another one.

As far as AM reception, which is mainly what I'm looking for, you couldn't beat the cheapo radios from the 60's and 70's. All the new ones I've had can't hold a candle to the AM reception of the oldies. I'll keep looking on ebay for an old one. I'm not a radio nerd, don't know a lot about them. I'm just giving my experience.
