A long time ago my wife and I decided to stop paying the phone company for service when we have perfectly good cell phones. This worked well for us until a wind storm came through our neighborhood and knocked out power for several days. Our cell phones eventually ran out of energy and we were without
communication.

I'd like to avoid this problem again by having a small, portable, solar device that charges our phones. I've seen a few online at various prices but wanted to see what you guys were using. Any experience or suggestions?

Start by getting a car charger for your phone and the get a inverter that plugs into the cig lighter you will be able to charge small things up that way.

I have spotlights, phones, ipods, battery chargers that can be charged without ever plugging into an outlet
