Looks decent to me however I much prefer the way natives etc. have done it for hundreds of years myself is so much easier and mobility is what I'm talking about

Some types I've seen particularly with fish and meat is to pack the flesh with salt on the outside and hang it on drying racks.
A friend told me this how they used to preserve a slab of beef in the Australian outback, as well as putting it in a cloth bag.
It would keep up to a week in very high temperatures.
