Clearing these out at Wally World for under $30 (at least at mine).
Seems pretty well made for China.

Not real confident that I will not lose the set screw pretty quickly but a pretty neat addition to my 'sharp thingy" collection.

It's called the Spirit (Spear it:thumb:)

I haven't tried it as a throwing knife yet. It is pretty darn heavy.

Anyone else played with one of these?

First test. It turns out that this make a really nice, small hatchet.

One side is only sharpened about an inch and a half so it could used to baton, if you are so inclined.

If you replace the throwing handle with a short paint roller stick you get much better leverage. I may have one of my sons turn a hickory handle for it, about 14" long, and see how it will work as a throwing hatchet.

I'm thinking that I will want this in my car kit.

Zombies, of course.:eek::D::rolleyes::thumb:
Seriously, I bought this just because I liked the concept but as I have been playing with it I can see a real value to it. I am also impressed at how well the point and edge seems to be holding up as I have begun to torture it a bit.

The weakest link that I have found so far is the spear/hatchet handles. I have not been able to find something that I think would stand up under real world use.

Grizzly makes a thread die for broom handles (it's a 3/4" thread) that I am thinking of picking up and then makings a nice handle out of hickory or ash for a hatchet length.

several of my sons do wood working and come across some cool pieces. Zebrawood might be pretty cool, or Purple heartwood. If I can find yellow locust at a reasonable price, that might be the best.

Of course the threads would have to be the smaller diameter/same as any standard broom stick.

The main body of the spear would be heavier and then taper the last foot down to the proper diameter for the threads.

When not needed as a spear, it would be a heavy hickory stick.

It has no advantage over the bushman except its smaller so its more concealable. however if carried it is still a double edged knife that will land you in the states facilities. Get the bushman at least you can carry when camping hunting and fishing and if you have to use it as a spear so be it.

It has no advantage over the Bushman except size, it is more concealable. However it is a double edge blade and carrying will get you registered as a guest in most state facilities. At least with the bushman even though it is 7 inches long most states have an exception on blade length if hunting camping or fishing. So you can at least use the bushman because its a knife. The SOG is a dagger.
