I just changed my snow tire off my car and I realized that because all of them are on their own rims that they are essentially 4 spare tires. Plus the regular spare tire which makes 5. In case I have to bug out I will be taking at least two on the top of my car (Honda Accord). I remember reading about Katrina and one of the major problems during evacuation was that there were a lot of roofing nails that cause more than one flat tire.

In addition I also have some of that tire fix-a-flat stuff but I dont think it lasts very long.

Thoughts?

Does anyone have run flats? I think they are a waste of money most of the time because I believe they have to have air pressure monitoring built into the car.

I keep a plug kit and small 12volt compressor in my truck.

Run flats work, but only long enough to get you to a tire shop(about 100 miles). If you go that far on one it is probably toast.

That was POST Katrina . The roofing nails were from all the repair work being done . Although a good spare , plug kits and so forth are good ideas.
