Silver Bear vs Brown Bear vs Golden Bear are all 7.62 x 39 mm but what is the difference? This is for an arsenal AK47. Which do you have experience with?

I've shot brown and golden from my Egytian AK with no problems.

I never really knew or know the difference between the 3.

In my opinion, if you are going to shoot steel cased ammo (nothing wrong with that) then stick with the original design which is laquer coated steel cases. Beyond that I don't think it makes much of a difference which Russian arsanel they were made at. Brown Bear, Golden Bear, Golden Tiger, and Wolf Military Classic all fit the bill. I would stay away from silver bear just because the nickle plating is not needed. I do believe that the laquer coated stuff functions better than the new wolf gray coating.

As was stated, the only difference is the case. I came across a bunch of x54R for the mosin that is Silver bear, it shoots great, shoots clean, and performs as advertised. I shoot Brown Bear HP through my SKS, and it performs the same, reliable and fairly clean. I would put my trust in any of the Bear line of ammo, it has proved to be very good time after time for me. Wolf would be a close second to me (had a few FTF and FTL with it) BUY AS MUCH AS YOUR WALLET WILL LET YOU!!!

I've used them all. They are pretty much all the same, as far as my Arsenal is concerned. I've had good luck with the Silver Bear in 5.45. It's sure-fire stuff and non-corrosive. I've still got a bunch stockpiled up. Like Mil-Dot said, the Silver Bear is zinc plated. It will get chalky if exposed to the elements. I shot a bunch of Silver Bear one weekend, and by the next weekend after exposure to the weather, the cases were all a white, chalky color. But, it's good blasting ammo. :thumb:
