I live in extreme NE Oklahoma and have been travelling between here and Tulsa quite a bit this last week. I see LOTS of fireworks stands set up along the road and very few have any customers. All you see are the workers, often sitting around in chairs visiting with one another. I have made a point to look for customers at the stands when I drive by and more often than not, there are ZERO.

When Americans cannot afford to buy fireworks for the 4th of July, we can be assured that the economy is NOT in recovery.

What are you seeing in your area? Are the stands busy or sitting idle?

Few to no real customers? That's because they have few to no real fire works.

Those screaming sparklers aren't worth $30.00. If I want real fire works I have to drive to South of the Boarder.

I want REAL fire works. I want something that is so big, so dangerous, that you have to sign a Liability form just to buy it.

Retired trauma nurse - fireworks should be banned from private use. Add alcohol and/or unsupervised children and you get instant cripsy critter. And you guys who want the really big ones? I hope to hell you have insurance because I don't want to pay for your prosthetic limbs.

YEP TOO DRY to take a chance right now and too much $ that many of us don't have to burn.

I'll spend some gas money in the boat this 4th..figure it's safer on the lake than to go downtown where all the black mob rioters are ready to come pouring in via the mass transit.

other than that...the traffic, etc of holiday travel and the higher risk of terror attack leads me to stay closer to home.
likely will make some noise at the house but it will be gun fire on the back range...I feel less guilty this time of year making all the booms since others are tossin fireworks all weekend

Thats becasue theres less and less people who unerstand what America is about. They keep getting told how bad we are and dont understand freedom becasue they are giving it away as fast as they can. Dont worry I forsee lots of fireworks in our future. But it probably mean we have another day that we will call Independence day #2.

Florida is also under a burn ban because of fires. The only public fireworks shows are a few that are being fired from barges over the rivers. At one point this month, there were 240 wildfires burning within a 50mile radius of my work.

Southern Arizona is also under a Fireworks/Burn ban, due to the fires and extreme fire danger, so NO fireworks/fireworks stands around here. Not that I'd waste my money on them, anyway. If I want something to go "bang", I'll go to the range and fire off some rounds. May have to make a trip down to Bisbee.....

thumbs down. besides, if your children are unsupervised AND drunks, you've got more problems than fireworks.

OP really? all the idiots for blocks around here in my neighborhood must have gone to Indiana to buy fireworks at least a month ago, they are sure settiing them off left and right in the middle of the night around here.( and have been, for about that long!) It will sound like a war zone this coming weekend and last for a month or so til their stock is depleted. reason 459,687 (and counting) why I hate living here.

HA HA!!!! I have insurance, but I don't think I'll be losing any limbs. I am going to see how much Jameson I can drink before I say "watch this". :thumb:

That's what I am talking about. The real stuff.

Mortors, Roman Candles, Sky busters, bottle rockets, End show Armageddons, cannon fuse, streamers, Special shaped fire works, Naughty shaped fire works (makes sky boobies), m80's, cherry bombs, and stuff that will blow your hand off if you don't get the heck out of dodge!

The worst are those lame poppers. Or the growing worms. Or the Fountain ones.

I mean at least with sparklers you can burn people.

Isn't it ironic though, that the celebration of our freedoms through displays of explosions, gets moderated or even banned by State Laws?

I love fireworks. I once bought a couple bags worth while driving through Wyoming just because I love them so much and couldn't pass up all the stands. Didn't get to light very many though :( I'm honestly afraid of setting a fire right now.
