I picked up a Sig P365 at the start of the pandemic. I was tempted to trade my Ruger LC9s Pro for it. I'm glad I didn't as I couldn't get the P365 on target. All my shots were going low. 3 mags into it I gave up. I've been shooting pistols since 1997 if I cant hit get on paper or on a steel gong in a couple magazines, that gun is going away. I had no problems selling it for what I had into it.

A few months later a friend of mine brought his Sig P365XL with RDS over to the house. Oddly enough, I had no problems hitting my target with that gun. However, I wasn't all that impressed with a Red Dot on the pistol. The dot kept getting washed out in the sunlight.

I pocket carry my Ruger LC9s in the summertime in cargo shorts. 90% of the time I OWB a Glock 43X with Shield Arms 15rd mags.

Meh. Honestly, a lot of guns take far more than 3 magazines to get orientated to. A lot of guns the rest of us have bought would fail your 3 mag test, but not a 100-200 round accuracy test.

How is your guys's accuracy shooting the micro compact handguns versus shooting something like a compact G19?

Are those Micro Compact 9mm really Snappy also?
For certain a G19 and larger is easier to shoot accurately. No doubt.

This is one of the things that's obviously better about G19 -> full sized guns: Grip, sight radius, etc. The downside is they are harder to conceal and carry unless OWB.

'Sub compact' or micro (almost all of those are actually sub compact) 9mms are snappy, but not too bad. They can be shot well, but require like any small handguns more work and practice.

I think you should also consider the new Canik mete mc9. Similar in size , but everybody is saying it’s got the BEST trigger. It’s cheaper than the sig , esp if you want the optics cut version. It even comes with a decent ( ehh) kydex holster.
My next carry gun will be a micro compact. My choices are p365x , canik and Masada slim. I’m waiting to check out the canik they just came out.

I have owned every gun discussed herein except the Hellcat. The EC9s mentioned above, is a $250 gun that is bet your life reliable and very simple. I have shorter fingers and love the feel. Sights are just machined in the slide. It is really easy to carry. The 365 XL has a red dot sight and also feels great and is bet your life reliable. Cost over twice as much and it is reflected in the construction. Easy to carry but the Ruger is really easy to carry. Both make sense to me. Hope you find what you’re looking for. Lot of great choices.
speaking of 250 dollar guns , buds has a beretta apx for 299 with a 50 dollar rebate. That’s a lot to fun for 250. I’m considering buying one , even though I don’t really want one, just because it’s a low price

I haven't even heard of it until now. Are they decent?
move only dry fired the gun. But yes more than decent. Closer in size to the p365xl , same thickness. 400 street price , optics ready and flat ( better than sig in my opinion ) trigger. I don’t think anybody should buy a micro-compact today without considering SW, sig , ruger , Masada and canik.

Howdy. You know your circumstances much better than anyone else does, but every company I've worked for since the 90s (except for one or two) has had a "no gun" policy. But I've ignored their policies, since I have a natural-born right to protect myself from harm. I'm not saying that you should break any rules, but if my company is willing to break my rules, then I don't feel any guilt breaking theirs.

Oh, believe me, I carry everywhere they don’t have metal detectors and physical searches. I work on a military installation, within a separate secured, 3-letter agency campus, and in a building where even mobile phones are prohibited, and every access point has a two-factor authentication. Be that as it may, I could probably carry (there’s a way to circumvent the metal detector), but it’s not really worth it. We have our own SWAT team and campus security.

I’m not naïve, there are plenty of case studies of “active shooters” on very secure military or government installations. It’s not really about rules but regulatory and painfully punitive consequences (Yes, I would get fired, but I would also be facing significant legal issues and criminal charges). It’s all about assessing and doing the analysis of risk to life verse risk to career/life (like getting charged with a felony, tossed in the gulag and losing everything you own…).

That said, my biggest fear isn’t my workplace, it’s traveling to and from work, or doing errands in the larger metro area after work. I have mitigated much of my risk for ensuring that’s covered; still a risk, but much more tolerable).

But totally agree with your view and personal assessment.

Sounds like someone doesn’t understand the combat hold sight picture. 😅

Most Sigs are. Every Sig I've shot, and nearly every Sig discussed in the Sig fora are as well.
If by combat hold you mean covering the target with the front sight instead of lollypopping it, then yes. Both my 365 and my 320 came that way. When I first got my 320 I thought I had an issue with the sights. Nope, just a little different than what I was used to.

You know what it is even if the name isn't used much, it's just sight picture variation that is common with most three-dot sights. I mostly remember the "center hold" from my early BRM days with the M16A2:

I could be wrong but I want to say the Beretta 92 uses a Combat Hold as well. I had one pass through my hands briefly years ago.

I find Glocks use a Center Hold, 1911's & Revolvers frequently use the 6 O'clock hold.

I've been carrying a small, S&W 638-3 revolver as my conceal-carry for more than two years (maybe closer to three years). It's a decent little gun, but I want something with a bit more capacity. This revolver is a 5 shot, .38 special. If I want to carry more ammo ... I either have to carry a speed loader which is bulky or extra loose rounds rolling around in my pocket. Neither option is ideal.

So I think I've narrowed my search down to two pistols: The Sig Sauer P365 or the Ruger LC9 (or possibly the EC9 economy version). I really wanted the Wilson Combat SFX9 but they're $3000.00 which is out of the question.

My revolver is about 6.5" from the tip of the barrel to the far end of the grip. The cylinder is almost 1.5" across. So both of these semi auto pistols are a bit shorter and not as wide. Great for concealment.

Anyway ... has anyone had personal experience with either of the above and, if so, what are your thoughts? I'd really like to hear from someone who owns both or who's at least shot both fairly extensively. I'm not too concerned about price, although the Ruger is almost $300.00 cheaper than the Sig.

I'm leaning towards the Sig because it's a 10+1 capacity to the Ruger's 7+1. The other benefit to a semi auto is that I can carry an extra mag instead of a fat speed loader or loose rounds. Both are 9mm which is fine with me.

P.S. If there's a better option out there (like the Springfield Armory Hellcat) feel free to make some suggestions. Thanks.

Either is an excellent choice for your category. I chose the Sig recently. I just liked how it felt in my hand while shooting better than the ruger. JMO, YMMV

I currently have my new Hellcat in my back pocket. Just ordered a trigger guard this morning. I'm looking for some good, conceal carry pants that will allow me to carry in a special, front pocket. I thought I was going to have to use the 11 round mag to carry in my back pocket, but the 13 round mag is working just fine. I'll probably buy the Sig in a couple of months.

I tried all sorts of different sight pictures and couldn't hit **** with it. I'm not saying others don't shoot just fine with them. It's not for me. If you're happy with your P365 - fantastic. I'm not going to mess with it.
Okeydokey. You said all shots were low, so I assumed you were shooting a group, and proper sight alignment would put that group on target.

If not, you gotta do you. I dislike some guns that other people love, as well.(y)
