OK,
You have your BOB and BOV ready to go, and the house is stocked and in a rural area so you could choose to stay put.

You have a choice of one firearm and one edged weapon.
What do you choose?

Criteria -1. $3000.00 budget
2. Reasonably obtainable by average "Joe" (No class 3 ect.)
3. Be Specific - List " Krebs X" not just AK

Please name your combo and feel free to support your choice.

I would choose a Mossberg 590 A1 and Cold steel Kukri as I currently have the most practice with them.

Please have fun, come up with the dream combo.

I will play...
The AK-47 type rifles are hard to beat.
Mine would be my romanian SAR-1.
And this from someone who owns arsenals etc.

Knife I guess would be for me something small like a pilot survival knife....

Dream combo would be a FN FAL but could run over 4000.00 because I would want something from the 80's imports.
And the same in knife would be the survival knife.

:thumb:

Americans forget that they conquer the Wild West with single or double-barreled shotguns, and a big knife smaller than photo ofcource but not with army type rifles !!
After one year of the SHTF there will be no ammo left for the AR-15, AK47 type rifles, just shotguns with home-made ammo !!

Stock now in ammunition and powder-pellets of shotguns, (back-shot,slug,bird-shot), some arrows for your bow, or your crossbow, and you will be fine .

Remington 30.06. My favorite gun, accurate with good stopping power. Decent shot with it and probably put more rounds through it than all other firearms/calibers combined. Probably a boring choice, but it works for me.

Knife, well who knows. Buckknife, or maybe a leatherman tool.

Forsaken,
That's what makes it a game, it's only for fun and to get the thoughts of like minded fellows who would really put some thought into the "One Firearm / One knife" combo.

I would need someone to help me carry all of that gear you pack.

My great grandfathers single shot bolt action 22 long rifle. And My Uncle Henry uh897 pocket knife. I have been carrying both for over 20 years. I am reasonably skilled with both. That is probably the main reason, I know the limitations of both and planning accordingly is just natural.

This is the key, use what you are the most comfortable and accurate with.
Just My opinion.
