just assuming SHTF and you pretty much had to live in the wild, no creature comforts of the modern world...no tv, no internet, no real electricity, no running water. you get the idea just a nice lovely post-apoc wasteland

What would you miss the most? What do you feel would be the hardest to give up and do without?

I think for me it would be music. Not that im a big music fan as it is but the world just feels so...silent without it.

probably followed by access to modern medicine but i think i could do without that and most other things anyways

edit: crud ment to stick this in general discussion. my bad

I'd miss the internet the most. I don't download videos, play games or listen to music on the net. I'm a knowledge junkie with a wide variety of interests and I research things constantly. Even if I could bring a library of books with me, it wouldn't have all the answers that I constantly hit the net to find.

As for music, I practically grew up in the recording industry and that's all I did for a living for many years. Still, I wouldn't miss it a bit. Besides, music is where you find it...or make it. Learn to play an instrument that you can either take with you or fit in a cache.

Washing machine
Dish Washer
Central Heating
Gas Cooker
Mircowave
Internet
Pens and pencils - unless I can work out how to make charcoal
Writing paper

It wouldnt be music, as my brother and I can both play the flute, and his learning the saxophone and hopefully keyboard. I can already sing and hope to learn the keyboard/piano as well. I also have a dulcimer (lap harp), numerous recorders in the house, so no worries there.

ALL THAT STUFF
a few things maybe. but most no, Nuclearplants will shut down after 2 day of non human activity(so no Ice cold Beer:eek:) and if not sooner then the hole grid will fall apart, running water will be poluted fast without maintenence.
So unless you are completle of grid and make your own Fuel there wont be much of THAT STUFF left.(but he was proposing the Wild)

this always cracks me up, no offense to the OP, but alot up people have the delusion of running off and living in the wild...it's not gonna happen..well maybe for a very small percentage....your more than likely going to live in ruins of cities than have been devastated with disease, famine, and death....anywho i'll miss- running water, antibiotics, and miller light

mostly i would miss to be able to talk with my Family (without Internet),and Diariah pills.

I moved around the world 2 years ago and here(Honduras) i dont have most of the stuff what i was used to(dishwasher, washingmaschine.....), the stuff i miss most is SWISS CHOCOLATE AND SWISS CHEESE(i know its a cliche/stereotypish)
Next moths i am to start build my new home off the Grid so i hope i never will miss the electricity to use my Laptop and Fridge.

easy recreation

A general one, easy recreation which covers stuff like the web and computer games but also driving to an amusement park, concerts or just getting together with family on Sunday for dinner and having it be no big deal. Second would be easy access to "stuff" such as extra toilet paper, abundant food at the grocery store or tons of gear at Cabela's.

I'm handy enough that I can get a hot shower almost anywhere. Probably AC or some kind of cooling too, if I put my mind to it. I think what I'd miss most is a variety in cheese. Yep, I can go to the store and get pretty much any kind of cheese from anywhere in the world for a few dollars. That wouldn't last.
