Well, it appears there are quite a few fishermen here, so why not show off our catches.
I'm looking for diversity here, not the biggest (but post them if you have them! :D) I want to see pics off all the different fish around the world.
Also how you caught it, net, rod, spear, trap, hands , or what ever.

So here we go:
Kahawai (Pacific Sea Salmon) caught on 15lb mono and a Shimano Baitcaster using a pilchard for bait, awesome fighting fish:

Grey Mullet, caught in a set net 20metres long with a mesh size of 75mm:
Image

Kingfish, caught on a Penn drum reel with 40lb braid using whole squid as bait, another awesome fighting fish:
Image

Snapper, caught on Kilwell Baitrunner with 15lb mono using Bonito Tuna for bait:

Does that Kahawai spawn in rivers or is it a strictly ocean species?
Strictly ocean fish, and highly underrated here, a lot of people consider them a rat fish. :(
I'll dig up some pics later.:)
Good one mate, I've changed the pic of the Kahawai for a different one that I caught recently.

This'll be an interesting thread seeing all the different fish of the world.
Yea, thats what I'm hoping for.
I'll get back to you Te Hopo.
After 1am here and I've got to get some sleep.
I'll post some pictures soon.
Forgot you guys are about 12hours behind us. :D

MATE, the resemblance .... thats just too uncanny! :D:

How'd you end up fishing in Japan?

I've been fishing in the Chinese industrial belt (no photos unfortunately), ... man talk about "Binky the three-eyed fish" ... the Chinese guys I was with were all taking the fish home to eat, ... I wasn't so sure they wouldn't glow-in-the-dark themselves afterwards!!

Well, I didn't take any pics of the one I caught recently, was only about 2inches long and I managed to foul hook it with a bait the same size, so I left it on and caught a much bigger fish. :D

Te Hopo what's does that kahawai taste like? Is it like tuna?
Tastes very much like tuna, but it goes off faster.

About a dozen that we got yesterday will be frozen ready for Andrews (/\the guy holding the fish above/\) 21st birthday at the end of this month, on the day before I will defrost them and hot smoke them ready to be eaten.

Here's a Big Ugly (black drum) caught and released in the Intracoastal Waterway. And my largest flounder, gigged at San Luis Pass.
Hopefully I have some new fish pics from fishing with the kayak soon.:D

Here's the fish that we chase the most.
Bull reds.
Moonpie is one of the luckiest or more likely the best at fishing for them.
His strikes to hookup ratio is unbelievable!
Here he is doing a Wilson impersonation with a bull at San Luis pass.:p

Cheers for the pics guys, those really are some beauty fish right there.
I would love to catch Halibut/Flounder, the big flounder here are only about a foot long.
And that Big Ugly, that looks like a fun catch.

Maybe you can get an idea of a pikes tooth structure from this. When I catch a bigger one I'll take some mouth and jaw shots for you.
Cheers man, I can see the size of those teeth, makes them an even more impressive fish.
Do you use a trace to catch them, and if you do, wire or heavy mono?
p.s. I think the photo looks a bit phallic, sorry about that!
Trust you to think of that, the thought never even crossed my mind. :D

On my ultra light spinning setup I generally use 10lb wire trace and crimp on a swivel to one end and a lure clip to the other (I make them myself). If I'm using this setup I'm usually catching chub and perch but sometimes a pike might take the small lure (1-4grm lure weights). If I get a pike I check the wire, if it's kinked I'll change to a new one so the lure still runs "true".

On my medium outfit I use a 20lb~30lb (usually 30lb) wire trace because I use 1oz (28grm) lures and I'm more likely to get pike. I can also catch pike quiet a few pike on them same trace without having to change over (I usually buy traces in this strength and change the lure clips for better ones).

On my jerkbait rod I use 60lb wire traces, that probably sounds excessive but I use 80lb braid, which sounds even more excessive!!! (I always buy my extra heavy traces).

Generally pike aren't line shy, they're just keyed into killing your lure.

Using the heavy braid and trace mean that if you're snagged you stand some chance of getting your ÂŁ10-ÂŁ15 lure back!

The heavy braid also helps stop over runs on your baitcaster, any "birdsnests" you do get can be easily unpicked.

I started using titanium traces (very hard to kink and so lasts much much longer) but to be honest I only see a use for them in the lighter lure setups. Normal 60lb 49 strand wire is pretty tough!!!

If you fly fish for pike you can use a 40lb section of mono and change over to a new section after catching a fish.

However, this pike was caught on my ultra light rod without a wire trace and just an 10inch length of 15lb mono for a bite leader.
