i found this set of "complete handyman" at a thrift store for $20. total of 26 books.

simular to these. different year. the ones i am looking at are in basement storage condition. (some watermarks, rough edges, etc.)

Buy them you got a bargain. Books are a wonderful thing. the info in them is even better. We shop at a chain of bookstores in the DFW area called Half Price Books. They are woderful for finding great resource books cheap. Good deal.

I've got several of them not the complete set they are a little dated for electronics but a lot of the projects have a use. My favorite is the how to build a boat ones they have. Now, all I need is a garage.:

Sure, they are a good general overview, but don't stop there. Over time, get other, more books that get more in-depth on topics you are interested in; they are, after all, a wee bit out of date.

I don't see how you could go wrong for that price. The info will definately come in handy, especially if you have any tools.

Waste of space. Buy them if you read instructions when you build stuff. Instructions are for cowards.
