Armed American Radio had a good take on this. COVID is the excuse for saving thousands (maybe millions) of dollars by not attending. The money Sig is donating to NSSF (I think 500K) is a drop in the bucket compared to the millions to attend the show. The firearms industry is currently making money hand over fist and does not have the need to attend the events to sell their products. The speculation is that Large national shows may give way to smaller regional shows in the future. NRA situation seemed to be a COVID cover as well. It looked like most of the exhibitors did not want to be associated with all the legal political BS going on with the NRA upper echelon. La Pierre and the rest need to resign and the rank and file take back the NRA if it is going to survive.

Having attended trade shows for other types of businesses, my opinion is that they are mostly opportunities for cities, states, unions, and hotels to make a lot of money, but pretty close to useless for improving industry relations. No great loss if they're cancelled.
