I am thinking of buying some Bolt Carrier groups, LPK, and magazines to set aside for resale during a gun panic. I know there are some gun dealers that frequent gun shows on this board. What sells well and what doesn't? Where is the best place to sell gun shows, gun broker, classifieds, armslist? For the Bolt carriers and LPK I will probably look at PSA. Do people buy PTAC or stay with the main lines? I would probably invest 1-2K. What brake down do you think is sensible. I figure that even if there isn't a gun scare within the next 5 years I could probably sell for what I put in without losing any money. I would rather convert extra cash into tangibles than sit on it earning no money in a savings account. Thoughts?

yah, it is OK to make a killing in Gold and brag,, or sell MREs over the internet on survival forums ,, but not ammo,,, no sir , selling ammo at a profit would be .....well I guess it would be like selling fighter jets to Saudi Arabia,, and that would be...... uh,, I am confused..

In fact I am way too confused by this issue of egregiously blatant selfishness to consider how it relates to being entitled to buy ammo and firearms at wholesale or 1999 prices to shoot men, women and children who are begging for food at ones door in SHTF food shortages

I think the point of contention is where survival is based on whether someone can afford to survive. It is a very difficult line to walk between profit margin and overall demand for a (worst case scenario) life saving good.

Like MM said above, complete rifles would be a better item since panic buying is mostly done by the Un-prepared (read: unskilled), and loathed by the prepared community due to price hikes and limited availability.

Buy whatever you want to. Stripped lowers and BCG seem to sell really well around me.

I don't think I'd invest much in mags...people really stocked up on those. But ammo, you might do better invest in complete guns (from parts kits and stripped lowers...you could build 4 easy with your $2) with 3 mags each or just buy all ammo for your investment.

I'll bite. After sandy hook I had all my cash tied up in a non liquid investment and needed some quick cash and I had A bunch of PMags. But even with the amount I had I wasn't willing to sell but a small percentage for the fear that I couldn't get them again. I went to the gun show and put an insane price on my mags, $100 per Mag. I didn't get any bites. By the end of the show I had lowered my price to $50 per mag and still no buyers. There were cases of GI Mags with Magpul followers for 20 to 25 bucks a mag and they weren't selling. Every AR15 was 2K to $2500 and none were selling. No one had any money. 99% of the people there were lookers.

I went home put 5 mags on amazon for $350 which is $70 a piece and they sold within a day. I missed the Amazon firearm magazine ban by hours.

Moral of the story online is the way to go. The sold prices on gun broker were way higher than what things were not selling for at the show. This was in January.

What was hot in 08/09 wasn't hot in 12/13. Sure all the prices went up but BCG weren't hard to find in 08/09 and nor was 22LR. I agree with others that ammo will always be a easy to sell item. I think the guaranteed money is in standard cap or high cap(30rounders) pistol mags. It is a sure way to double or maybe triple your money since the mags are a little bit more expensive to begin with so a lot of people put off buying them.
Glock mags
Glock 18rd mags
SW M&P mags
Sig Mags
H&K mags(better find them on a deal).
308/7.62 Pmags(I had people giving me their card offering $100 to $150 if I could find them)
Steyr AUG Mags(they are cheap now Sub $20)

Pmags and GI mags are at an all time low and lots of people are buying them up and wouldn't mind parting with a few if another panic happens. I don't see their prices being that much higher than what they are. The same goes with AR15 Parts. I also think the reason 22 is still hard to find is that everyone who owns a 22 and cares about how much ammo they have is putting some bulk packs back. It's very affordable to put 22 back vs. centerfire ammo. So I don't see 22 being in high demand. The best I can say is look for something that not everyone has but everyone wants. Also side note I could find factory Beretta 92 mags for $25 through the whole scare. I could also find XD and XDm mags for below MSRP.

I think money would be better invested in ammo.

Quality I'm not sure if it matters. But definatly a quantity of ammo.

Just imagine the EPA banning it or an executive order.

And I have no problem being a scalper selling to those who didn't prepare for such an event. Nor could I really feel sorry for the joe blow public for panic buying.

It's supply and demand. The basics of commerce.

I think ammo is good, in calibers you could use yourself if it does not sell,, or the prices (miraculously ) drop below what you paid,,

or magazines for guns you do not own, blah blah blah

or guns you do not have lots of ammo for..

same with anything, don't stock cigarettes if you do not smoke ( a friendly pack or two OK,but not cartons) or liquor if you do not drink,, beyond a bottle or two, to offer others a shot..

because,,, what if no one comes to trade,, or has nothing you want
