SENATOR YEE AMENDS SB 249 INTO A MASSIVE, UNCONSTITUTIONAL GUN BAN

CALIFORNIA ATTORNEY GENERAL KAMALA HARRIS ENDORSES SB 249 REQUIREMENT TO USE DETACHABLE MAGAZINE FIREARMS

SAN CARLOS, CA, AND MADERA, CA – In an egregious and deliberate move to ban hundreds of thousands of legal firearms and harm law-abiding California gun owners, California Senator Leland Yee (D-San Francisco) has amended his bill SB 249 to make possession of all Bullet Button, or “maglocked”, firearms a criminal act as of July 1, 2013. Sen. Yee’s chief-of-staff, Adam Keigwin, has said that California should ban all guns, even bolt-action hunting rifles.

Joining Senator Yee in his effort to take away hundreds of millions of dollars of currently-legal guns are co-authors Senate President pro Tem Darrell Steinberg (D-Sacramento), Senator Kevin de León (D-Los Angeles), Senator Loni Hancock (D-Berkeley), Senator Ted Lieu (D-Torrence), Assemblyman Anthony Portantino (D-La Cañada Flintridge), and Assemblyman Mike Feuer (D-Los Angeles).

Explaining his support for the gun ban, Senator Steinberg told the Sacramento Bee that “no one will convince me it's anything other than a joke to say that having multiple clips and semi-automatic weapons that can shoot 100 or more bullets at a time is necessary in this state or in this country. It’s ridiculous."

Also on record as supporting SB 249, the Los Angeles Times reports Attorney General Kamala Harris as saying, “I applaud the Legislature's interest in addressing this problem and support efforts to pass legislation needed to" [ban Bullet Button firearms].

SB 249, if it were to become law, would categorically ban all “maglocked” semi-automatic firearms that are in common use, such as those which use the Bullet Button device. SB 249 does not provide for any grandfathering of existing firearms nor does it have a method of compensating gun owners for the firearms the proposed law would require to be destroyed or removed from California. The net effect would be what is perhaps the single largest unconstitutional government taking in California history.

More, SB 249 would subject gun owners to criminal liability as of July 1, 2013, for the mere possession of firearms that Senator Yee and Attorney General Harris have both said are legal under current law. Ex post facto laws, such as SB 249 would create if passed, are expressly unconstitutional.

Interestingly, however, SB 249 would create a de facto requirement that gun owners , hunters, and competitors in California use only “featureless” firearms, such as AR and AK-style guns employing compliance parts like the Solar Tactical KYDEX Grip Wraps, MonsterMan Grips, or Exile Machine’s Hammerhead Grip, which not only allow for the lawful use of factory magazine releases but large-capacity magazines as well. California does not ban the possession of large-capacity magazines. Wes Morris, owner of Ten Percent Firearms, demonstrates this is an excellent YouTube video you can view at
.

Senator Yee’s bill is currently before the Assembly Appropriations Committee and is expected to be heard on August 15, though it could be heard as soon as August 8. The bill must pass both the Assembly and the Senate by August 31.

I know we left California with the last ban. And we took 127 good paying jobs with us. Not only that we now pay less taxes being out of that communist state. It was a win win. I wonder how many others will finally just move out and let the state rot in its own filth. They get what they deserve as far as I'm concerned.

If you read through the supporters of this crap you will notice on thing in common. In front of the location they represent is the letter "D". Nationwide polls have shown that less than 30% of the population of the country are in favor of Gun Control. So if they manage to ramrod this thing through, what will it do for Democratic support in California? When they begin to confiscate legally owned firearms, without compensation, Calfornia may end up Republican rather than the Democratic stronghold it has been.

I think that they may want to rethink this one, especially in an election year when they want their canidate re-elected.

Yep got the email from Calguns this morning this sucks. But you can bet if this passes I am just throwing on an exile grip while the lawsuit goes through. I have been sending emails and everything else that Calguns has suggested. I don't think this will pass in currrent form with no grandfathering.

I prefer that this one go through. The logic is that it cannot stand up to any real tests when it comes to rights. You could have 1 argument then over what is and is not a right for an American that lives in CA. The way things are now, it is just a mess of obviously idiotic laws that you can't keep up with or effectively fight.

So I say let the damn thing pass and then let them spend a year trying to defend it.

The real method for defeating this nonsense- move out of Kalifornistan.

Vote with your wallet and your feet.
:thumb:

Get out of the Nanny State.

CA always has and always will be a rookery of squawking pinko snobs that do what liberals like doing best...........trying to micromanage the lives of others.

God created all kinds and I guess pinkos need a place to live too.

Move out of CA to where you can breathe free air.

Life's too short to put up with that kind of stupidity.

Well it seems that Senator Yee and his buddies would like to see innocent people raped robbed & killed in their homes.
He understands the consequences of disarming the victims. For that's all the government can do.
Yee and his family will be cozy:sleep: & safe in gated communities.

Us plebes will be the ones that will be unarmed, helpless & vulnerable to the criminal element.

Yee, just like the Michael Bloomberg dinner party cliche in NYC will always be able to get the elusive "may issue" carry permits while it's tuff luck on increasingly violent streets for the rest of the Great Unwashed (& Unarmed).

The OP's link is no longer valid. Here is the new one:

BTW, I watched that news story that got Sen. Yee so upset about bullet buttons. Those guys on that video were leisurely taking their time to click the button with their bullets, taking about 10 seconds to change a mag or so. I wonder what kind of bricks he would sh** if he saw some of us changing mags using bullet-button PMags and Thordsen button mods on our AR's. I think he'd have a stroke.

In the constitution of the country I am currently living there is an article providing the citizens the right of resistance if someone tries to take away rights granted in the constitution or even overthrow the constitution.

I don't need shabby politicians telling me what I need or what I don't need. What I need is my decision based upon my free will.

People like Steinberg should look up in a dictionary what fascism is and how decisions are made in totalitarian systems. People like him should walk in shame and never ask how Nazi Germany could happen.

A few interesting quotes I found in my Library from the gun control crowd.

1: We must get rid of guns because a deranged lunatic may go on a shooting spree at any time, but anyone who would own a gun out of fear of such a lunatic is just paranoid.

2: An intruder will be incapacitated by tear gas or oven spray, but if shot with a .357 Magnum will just get angry and kill you.

3: The second ammendment which was ratified in 1787 refers to the National Guard which was created 130 years latter in 1917.

4: A Woman raped and strangled is morally superior to a Woman with a smoking gun and a dead rapist at her feet.

5: Private citizens shouldn't have handguns because they aren't "military weapons", but private citizens shouldn't have "assault rifles" because they are military weapons.

6: Most people can't be trusted, so we should have laws against guns, which most people will abide by because they can be trusted.

7:We should ban "Saturday Night Specials" and other inexpensive guns because it's not fair that poor people should be able to defend themselves too.

8: Handgun Control Inc. says they just want to "keep guns out of the wrong hands". Guess what? You have the wrong hands.
