Nice pics. How about a recipe. I'd love to know how to make it. I know I could google it but it means more coming from an actual person. Thanks much.

Looks good. I just made my first batch last week. Cabbage and salt was all I put in. It was ready in four days and since I've never had homemade I was really surprised at how good, easy and cheap it was.

My dad made kraut a few times with turnips and it was really good. He did cabbage once and it spoiled.
The way he did it was to shred the vegetable and put a layer in a stoneware crock then cover with salt another layer of vegetable then salt till it was 3/4 of the way full.
Put a plate that fits good over it then a jar of water for a weight to hold it all down. Then cover with plastic wrap. every few days remove the plastic wrap and skim the mother off (floating debris from the process) after about a month it was ready and he canned it in jars.
