This is interesting!

This could be the distraction the establishment is looking for because of the financial mess they got us into...

If rhetoric upon Syria keeps ratcheting up as it has been, this could be a diversion to our misery!

How could this happen?

Turkey has upwards of 20,000 troops just across the Syrian border. Thier have been plans laid in place of invading Syria to create a buffer zone for the humanitarian crisis that has erupted there. How does this warrent invading sovereign territory of another nation is beyond me!

But with the recent mass resigning of Turkey's top military brass, this has been held back or even shelved altogether. This could have been the motivation for Syria to open up their crackdown upon the protesters armed with heavy weapons and manning tank traps, the problems within Turkey's top brass meant no invasion from the north.

Turkey is a NATO member and other NATO members like France and Italy also have troops in Southern Lebanon as part of a UN mandate as well as warships round the clock off the coast of Lebanon.

The British have military bases on Cyprus likewise. NATO has been in the process of deploying more forces to bases within Turkey starting last month. How many, I have no idea but troops are deploying from other NATO nations to Turkish bases.

The only X-factor will be what Russia does in response. They have a small naval base in Syria but with their warnings to Syria's leaders of dire moves soon, maybe they know something?

There's no need for another beachhead to attack Iran. Take a look at where US forces are already deployed. Iraq. Afghanistan.

Take a look at where AMAB is. Do the sums, Iran is already squeezed between two beachheads, has been for the best part of ten years. There's nothing coincidental about this, either.

+1. We are already on their border. Obama has put himself in a bad position: he campaigned anti-war, got involved in Libia and now has Syria to deal with. He is screwed. It should help boot him out of office next year.

The UN needs to dry up and blow away, a completely useless organization.
The UN is as good as its members will allow it to be!

Don't blame the UN all the time, blame its members that make it up, they control it...

China and Russia may have something to say ...or contribute adversely.... if America puts boots in Iran. Let's all remember that it would serve no purpose for American citizens, but it sure would make Israel happy.

A number of things right on the button ........

The Big O needs more diversion away from the economy ...... laughable that France talked him into screwing over the constitution and declaring his own private war against Libya ....... Why not Syria? ...... Aren't mowing down those poor civilians just like Libya?

The Brits said they would stay deployed against Libya until September ...... very little action lately by either side ..... Is The Big O sending the marines back into Tripoli?

Correct. The UN was and still is great idea. The problem is that we allowed Islamic nations to participate in it and now it is nothing more than a group of Israel bashers.

Wake up! All UN members are paying not only the US.
Agreed they are but check the amounts. I think you'll find the US pays way more then anyone else!
