I won a Ruger SR9C in a raffle last month and wanted to share with you my thoughts. I am a firearms instructor as well as a fugitive recovery agent so firearms are a big part of my life.
I am a 1911 guy and I carry a Sig daily for work. When I won the Ruger SR9C I was thinking crap... Guess this would be a plinker. A range bag gun or perhaps a good stash away pistol in a Bug out bag. I was to say the least, not all that excited about it.
However the Ruger SR9C is a much better Gun then I thought. Out of the box it is right on. It does have fully adjustable sights, but mine did not need turned at all. I have put 2000 rds through it with all kinds of brands to see how it handled. Some of the brands include: PMC, Brazer Brass, Speer Lawman, Remington, Federal, TulAmmo, Winchester, Wolf, Corbon, and more. They have been FMJ's, JHP's, Most have been brass, but some steel cased. The result has all been the same. Bang. I have not had any failures in anyform. They eject like shot out of a cannon and feed like a bucket of candy flavored popcorn to a fat girl.
The Ruger SC9C brakes down so easy it reduculise. Easy to clean. Light weight to carry. Both a 10 and 17 rd mag come standard.
If the SR9C has a down side it is the cost of spare mags. At 49.00 each.
The SR9C though is one of the best guns I have ever fired in a rapied speed attack. It just comes right back on target. It makes you look better then you really are. Tight groups and same hole hits are comman. Its balance is perfect.
Retail is 550.00, but I see them for 399.00 all the time. If you have a chance to shoot one, please do and I promise you to will be a beleiver as well.
