Anybody have one? Any thoughts?

My brother is pistol shopping on a budget and is looking for a good pistol in the $400 range. I tried to push a Beretta on him :D: but he says its out of his budget...
I like the looks of them, they feel good in the hand, and the price is right.... Just never had the chance to shoot one.
Any feedback on THIS gun would be appreciated :thumb:

Well I have had one for about two weeks so I can give you a little help. As is obvious by my screen name I like Glocks. Have had various ones over the last 15 or so years and I love them. The Ruger SR9 is a very well made gun. The day I got it I took it home and cleaned it thoroughly. I read that this is a good thing to do. I then took it to the range and put 200 rounds of WWB and reloads through it. Flawless. The thing I like about this over the Glock is the SR9 is slightly slimmer yet holds the same amount of rounds. Im also having a little trouble finding a conceal carry holster. Most are backordered so that is just the popularity I guess. I would say go for it. So far this has been a really good and reliable pistol. Hope this helps.

Excellent value and good accuracy.

Only took about 1/2 a magazine to clear FTF issues.

Buy, beg or steal one.

I also have an SR40 which, I think, is just as good. Maybe a bit more muzzle rise than some (but less than the Glocks) but another real deal.

if you get an SR9, make sure it has the trigger safety on it. if it does not then it is one of the older recalled models that go off for no reason. I repeat. Make sure it has the Glock style trigger safety or do not buy it.

I have one and am very happy with it. I know alot of folks dont like them but Fobus makes a holster for the sr9 and a Blackhawk serpa for a M&P 9 will work as well but requires using soft side velcro to snug it up a bit.:thumb:
