Use a wide one around a button on your pants and then through the button hole for the days when the meal is just too good to push away from :) One of those ones made to hold a ponytail are better because they're stronger.
This also works for expectant mothers whose pants don't quite meet at the middle any more:)

If they are wide ones, you can put them on the 'dangly boy bits' of a male animal and wrap them tightly. Eventually the bits will fall off and you'll have saved yourself the cost of a trip to the vet's for a neutering... ;)

I have elastrated a bunch of livestock and if it where up to me, I think I would just as soon have them cut and gone than go through that.

When I was a dumb kid, we would tie the rear legs of frogs together with rubber bands to see how they hop one legged. I was pretty cruel back then! Now I'll literaly shut down a construction job to save a gopher!
