Use a wide one around a button on your pants and then through the button hole for the days when the meal is just too good to push away from One of those ones made to hold a ponytail are better because they're stronger.
This also works for expectant mothers whose pants don't quite meet at the middle any more

If they are wide ones, you can put them on the 'dangly boy bits' of a male animal and wrap them tightly. Eventually the bits will fall off and you'll have saved yourself the cost of a trip to the vet's for a neutering...

I have elastrated a bunch of livestock and if it where up to me, I think I would just as soon have them cut and gone than go through that.

Can you elaborate on why you feel this way? I kind of figured less cutting would mean less chance of infection...

When I was a dumb kid, we would tie the rear legs of frogs together with rubber bands to see how they hop one legged. I was pretty cruel back then! Now I'll literaly shut down a construction job to save a gopher!
