Ronald Reagan was an idiot. when's that video from anyway, the 50s?

I won't assume anything but does your comment mean that you think that the words in the recording were incorrect?
Do you think that we need to grow the government some more?
Do we need socialized medicine?
Do you want to pay for my healthcare?

The whole point was that it was made a long time ago and what he said has come true. I really don't care what he was like as a president or a person for that matter. But what he said is now reality. I brought it up, not because of who he is but because of what he said.

Where does this propaganda keep coming from? The health care bill mandates that everyone carry private insurance. It's a mandated delivery of 30-40 million MORE CUSTOMERS to the private insurance industry. Fiat capitalism. Obama raised more money from BIG BANKS than anyone else, including McCain: http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/contrib.php?cycle=2008&cid=n00009638. And then he bailed them out. We should be so lucky if we had consumer-driven OR socialized medicine. By now the one thing we know for certain that doesn't work is crony capitalism -- and that's what this bill provides more of.

By the way, Reagan was a Democrat himself up until 1962, about a year before JFK was assassinated.

Last comment: I went third party and independent a decade ago. Don't blame me -- I told you so.

Actually, no, no it hasn't come true. It was in fact just the same scaremongering BS catering to imbeciles as was tried by the GOP for the past 6 months.

I didn't agree with many things Ronald Reagan said. But he did say; "the best social program is a job". And THAT, I have to agree with, and any reasonable person should agree.
I know, some of you will say that not everyone can work, so we need big brother helping us out, we need entitlements.
The facts are, only in the last 60-80 years we have had "social" programs like welfare, etc. And we managed to pretty much fill up most of the USA with plenty of folks. Something must have kept 'em reproducing and populating our country. May have it been good, hard work??

Sorry I got off-topic everyone.

Sure I will. I paid into social security with my own money. So naturally I'll be wanting it back. It was an involuntary tax, and you know this. If would've had a choice, I most probably would have opted out of the program.

So you think it's ok for the government to tell you that you have to buy insurance? It's not capitalism if your forced to buy something. I don't like it when the government takes over what I do in my life. As long as I'm not hurting anybody else, they should stay out of my business. They shouldn't be telling me I have to wear a seatbelt, wear a helmet, pay into social security or buy medical insurance. What right do they have to tell me what I can buy or do when what I'm buying or doing is not harming anybody else?

No, I don't think it's ok -- I hate this bill as much as you. But it's patently wrong to call it socialism. It's fiat (forced) capitalism. Pay up or we'll fine you. Crony capitalism has more in common with racketeering than anything else. Socialism is worker control of the industry, a classless society, etc. Anyone calling this socialism has been smoking a lot of dope. I bet my insurance rates go UP next year.

As I've indicated before, I believe both consumer-driven or socialized medicine would be better alternatives. Crony capitalism is what has been driving our current health care system (and the banks, big oil, big auto, and maybe the whole country) into the sewer. They get too powerful, there's not enough competition, they have political backdoors, they can buy positive media spin or politicians outright.

I've come to conclude that the chief difference between the Republicrats and the Demopublicans is Crony Capitalism A or Crony Capitalism B.

I guess I mis-read what you were saying. I wasn't really trying to say that the healthbill is socialism. I wasn't trying to say anything about socialism or liberalism, just that the government has been making changes slowly over the years for the worse (I guess I shouldn't of used the title I used, I just copied it from YouTube). I totally agree with what your saying here. I don't see a difference between the Republicians and Democrats and there is a better way to handle health care then what they are doing.
