Congressman Ron Paul will make a major announcement next week in Washington D.C. at the National Press Club.

Both Bob Barr and Chuck Baldwin are expected at the news conference. Barr is the Libertarian presidential nominee and Baldwin is the presidential nominee of the Constitution Party.

Speculation is that that Baldwin and Barr are stepping aside so that Paul can become the nominee of both the Constitution and Libertarian Parties
The Montana Constitution Party has removed Chuck Baldwin from the ballot and is putting the ticket of Ron Paul for President and Michael Peroutka on the ballot for Vice-President.

UPDATE: Eric Garris reports: Ron Paul was aware that the party planned to do this, and has said that as long as he can remain passive and silent about the development, and as long as he need not sign any declaration of candidacy, that he does not object.

Yes, I thought I was completely gone from this board, but I got some news from one of my uncles that I had to pass on.

He just got back from the RNC, as part of Ron Paul's crew. He said they were allowed in, but only after any RP items were confiscated- and get this, another member there was able to find out that their confiscated property was thrown out. I believe this included buttons, fliers, handouts, magnets- ect.

Have heard this alot, also, delegates for RP were not counted in some instances, microphones turned off,etc.

blame the Bilderbergers, or mcCain, but someone didn't like what RP had to say, and shut him up. Unfortuantely they were smart. Making Paul dissappear would have caused.... well I Get the feeling it would cause a couple of Fort Sumpter type situations.

I like both Bob Barr and Ron Paul, and it is a damned shame these guys can't get their message out, and heard by enough folks. They make sense and there should be room for them in the debates with equal time allowed for their rebuttals...but the crooked 2 party system and the media aren't going to give either of them a snow balls chance in hell!

im STILL getting weird looks on my Ron Paul bumper sticker. I live maybe an hour's drive or so from Lake Jackson, his home town, and to this day I get people that have never heard of him.

I just got off the phone with my Uncle again. I could go on and on about what this man has done for this country, (retired AF Major), and he has always been one of my 2 largest influences- my other uncle being the other. He tried to get airtime for an editorial on Ron Paul at several local news stations in his area and when they hear the name they toss him to the curb faster than you can say "opinions expressed do not necessarily coincide with those of this station".

Its to the point that he actually comes to ME for weapon and prepping advice. I gave him the URL here. Hopefully it will help. We've both lost our faith in the country. I love it- but it's not where I grew up anymore.

BTW, If Barr withdraws, does Ron Paul still get on the ballot in Texas? I know the Texas election laws said that there was a deadline (Which McCain and Obama missed, LOL) As of right now, the only person Texans will be able to vote for will be Bob Barr.

He has stated on his site www.campaignforliberty.com he has a very big announcement to make next week but I didn't know what it was. I am hoping he is going to run.

I was going to write him in anyway. Could you imagine the pressure on the status quo to adjust and become more constitutional. If Paul gets in the debates he will win every one. Obama and McCain can not beat him. I have watched both of their conventions and neither one of them talk about real issues. They totally disregard border and port security and the illegal invasion problem. They both just want to kill people in other countries.

I don't know if the blind, lock step republicans are ready to accept the constitution yet. There is no chance to gain any votes from the democrats/socialists.

We will see if this new information is actually true.

What we need is a candidate like Ron Paul who uses the internet/personal appearances as his campaign platform and excludes the media from covering him. The internet is the only way to exchange information that is not completely controlled, for now anyway. A candidate like this could hold an open Q&A where people come to ask him/her questions about how he/she will fix this country and have it up on U-Tube for any who want to see it.

Don't know if we're at the point yet where an internet candidate can go around the mainstream media, but I'm hoping that at some point we will get there.

Also, a candidate like this would have to start campaigning immediately after an election so he/she could have the whole 4 years to get the word out and get known, IMHO.

That would be up to us to force main stream media. If this is all true he should be in the debates and we can force that. Paul has a lot of fans. Many of them are republicans. This gives the republicans another shot at doing the right thing.

I'm a huge Ron Paul fan and would love to see his name on the ballot. However, I don't think that is what's going on. It looks like he's going to be encouraging people to vote third party this year. Here's an article about it:

I am becoming disenchanted with Ron Paul at this time. He on more then one occasion made it appear that he was going to run for president. First, he never ended his run for president, he postponed it. Then he was going to have some very big announcements at the Rally for the Republic. Now he tells us from his website that he has a huge announcement for us in Wednesday. The internet goes crazy with the thought that he is going to run again. But after sitting on the thought for two days he says on Cavoto that he will not run.

My issue is (I may be way wrong about this) he keeps delaying our fight. We (patriots) have never been a stronger group and we keep waiting for Ron Paul to step up. But all that really happens is we get delayed while we get closer and closer to an election that will possibly be the last election of our supposedly free society.

We will have to wait and see. What ever he says today, less he will run for president, will delay the fight for another two weeks. I am becoming concerned that maybe he is not the man to lead the patriot movement. We have wrapped ourselves around him waiting for leadership and all we have is a rally and a lot of waiting accomplished all the while the enemies of our country are well organized and moving forward like a freight train. There is a huge difference between the two groups. It is like running in place for the patriot movement at the hands of Ron Paul.

I hope that we see some real progress today from Ron Paul. I like all he says and his track record is outstanding. This is most likely the last time in his life he will have this opportunity and there is no time in the history of our country that he is needed more than right now. Let alone the fact that he has an army of patriots waiting for his guidance.

Is time for Ron Paul to step up or step aside?
