Here are a few pictures of the rigs that I put together for my rifles. Please feel free to comment and post pictures of the rigs you have.

First setup is an Arktis Norloos Rig and my DSA Fal.

Next rig is an older Blackhawk vest with my Colt AR-15.

Great setup and a great rifle!

I prefer the Arktis rig pictured with the Fal rifle the most. It has a nice balance of magazine storage as well as pouches for gear. If I had to leave with just one it would be this one. For a pure load out with no extra gear I would say the Blackhawk vest would be my choice only because the mags are easier to access then the Arktis rig.

It'd probably be much less newb looking if I just photoed the rig and weapon, but unfortunately I decided to deck myself out. (yes I know not a good idea to wear all black- I'm on that)

PAGST helmet, Blackhawk LBV, and Saigha .223

and with the pre Knoxx stock shotgun

Where do you guys wear this stuff? .
I've been wearing mine deer hunting this year, just to get used to crawling around the bush with it on but otherwise, the intent behind it is the same as having a fire extinguisher on hand.

Hope to never need it, but if you do, you won't say "I wish I had the means to fight back".

On that note, everyone's fire extinguisher is as big as the fire they expect to have to put out. ;)

When the crap hits the fan I plan on wearing it while protecting my family and belongings. Reloading your firearms from magazines stored in your bag may not be practical.

Tons of stories came out after Katrina detailing about how being visibly well armed detered criminals while unarmed people were preyed upon.

I also have some low key gear where I can carry concealed and go unoticed. As I can see this being usefull post SHTF as well.

Define SHTF

Evening everyone ....M. from Colorado. Hope everyone is doing well. Local G.SHow her in the Springs was wall to wall people today.....amazing. Wrt prepping I have all the training, gear, insider info one would ever want....Been prepping for some time. See I am one of those dreaded evangelical, A/G end of the world, Bible believeing Christians.

My question to the rest of the forum is simple..... What is your definition of SHTF.

Here are mine with their contents, I really need to add some first aid supplies to all these for them to be complete. I am still working on finishing the vest for the Galil, need some mag pouches for it.

This is the setup for the PTR-91 and Sig 225, an Arktis Noorloose rig.

This is the un-finished setup for the Galil, accompanied by the Cougar 9mm. It is a surplus MOLLE vest that I chopped up.

 OMG PICS OF SOME NYLON, I'VE DONE IT NOW, GUESS I BETTER SLEEP WITH ONE EYE OPEN.

Welp, here's one of my loadouts, still fine tuning it a little but for the most part you get the idea. This is an extreme loadout, so if TSHTF so bad that it doesn't matter anymore whether or not your low key then I'll be rockin one of my extreme loadouts. As you can see this is my M1A loadout w/ HK usp 40cal.

Nice work there, I wouldn’t have chosen the M1A but considering the availability of ammo and parts (in the US), as well as the easy to understand construction, it seems like a good choice. I see you have plenty of ammo. May i suggest putting most of it your ammo in a cache, and keeping only 3-4 mags on your body. Then you might be able to run faster.

One possibility is getting some fireworks, if you are attacked. You can chuck them in a bush and if they sound like gunfire, the enemy will think he is facing a larger enemy. Thus they will not advance, and it will keep fire off of you. If you intend to turn and run, which i suggest, try using a flashbang (hard to get). If you use a smoke grenade they will know you are retreating, so use that time to reposition and reengage.

However there’s never a war when a disguise can't supplement your tactics. Bare this in mind. This is why they want everyone to have ID cards i bet. Not that the objective is to actually do something useful, its to ensure that they can get rid of any individual, but they are protected by the system of lies, money and force.

Dwind, looks like you took advantage of S&W's "get 2 free extra mags ,when you buy a sigma pistol", as did I. I have several pistols in various calibers , but I think my .40cal allied forces sigma is THE best value on the market. At the time I bought mine ,sigma's were $300 w/ a $50 factory rebate AND the 2 free mags(4 total) one hell of a deal.

I also took advantage of this deal and really like this gun for the money, even though it is plastic.. I think the people that whine about the trigger are a bunch of babies! The trigger is fine and I use this as my night gun as I attached a laser onto it.

I've never had any issues with this gun and with the $50 rebate and extra mags, there's no way we could have gone wrong..

It appears that the stigma that the original Sigma has has been weeded out with this refined. "enhanced" gun.. I like this better than most Glocks, and better than the full sized 40 cal. Glocks it was "inspired" by.. Feels MUCH more natural in the hand, especially with the addition of the Hogue grip.

This was an every day carry gun for me until I got the Kimber UCII.. Now the SW40VE lives under my bed with a laser attached to it and all mags filled to the rim..

I understand the whole protecting your family thing since I am a family man. It is just that I can't envision a situation where it would ever do you any good to be dolled up in multi-cam with rifle slung walking down the street. And if you did who would be with you? How long do you think you would survive by yourself?

I would just prefer to be the gray man wearing a concealed pistol with a long gun close at hand. Right wrong or indifferent if there is a SHTF situation and things are that bad you can expect troops or federal officers in your AO. When you dress like a soldier or police they are going to think you are just that and when you are asked for ID and cannot produce it you can expect to be detained and or locked up. If this happens who will take care of your family?

Don't get me wrong I believe everyone should be able to own and carry what they want. I am also not new to the survivalist movement.

We all have filters that strain every piece of information we are given. My basic filters are as a kid growing up in a pretty rural place, then in the army, then as a police in a pretty bad area and now living in a very rural place.

Much also depends on whether you are responsible for yourself or your family. I spent time in the the military carrying a good amount of gear and lots of time as a nylon ninja carrying even more. I can see everyone's points and they were well articulated. For those that have not yet done so make sure that you have walked a little bit in all this stuff and make sure it works for you.

As a trainer I have also seen two many times that it is toys over training. Make sure you have the skills to exploit the capabilities of your gear.

Mercop, like I said before, it all comes down to the severity of the collapse. Everyone's idea of what's to come is a little different so of course, what they deem to be adequate preparations will be different.

I imagine that you expect a milder collapse with a relatively fast eventual recovery. A year or two?

Some of us imagine a new, long Dark Age from which recovery will be slow; generations long.

I can't completely dismiss the possibilities of a collapse so sever that half the world population will be lost to disease, hunger and natural disasters and elements.

Some very intelligent scholars are predicting that when the big show starts, it will culminate in the elimination of 70% of the world's population, as I said, due to pandemics, starvation, wars and natural disasters.

Should that come to pass, all my Nylon Ninja equipment, firearms and ammo will not feel like over preparation. Maybe quite the opposite.

I also know that if you don't share such fears, it is very hard to see the logic of preparing to that level.

You know, since I sense a little bit of negativity in the air towards those who have gear I think UMMMMMMMM Maybe I'll post some more pics of Loadouts since that is what THIS THREAD IS ABOUT. Maybe someone should start a thread on Gray t-shirt blue jean wearing under the radar if SHTF get ups.

THIS THREAD IS ABOUT ASSAULT WEAPON RIGS, those who don't apprieciate the pics for what they are, well there are other sights liiiiiiike Martha stuarts cooking class.

No one ever said anything about walkin down the street with there gear on and i don't care how much training you think you have or if you were a cop or in the military, (I happen to have 10 yrs Military Myself) but that doesn't mean I shouldn't be Prepared for the possibility that one day I might need more than just a Gray t-shirt and blue jeans. OH by th way I do have a Gray t-shirt and blue jeans also.

Any hoot, I round up some more pics FOR THIS THREAD. T-shirts and jeans on another thread.

RANT OVER

Since we're talking about rigs, how about some basic info for those of us who don't know the "ins & outs" of various rigs? Are what we seeing in these pics a version of MOLLE gear? Or something else?

For example, I've seen the SKS (chinese) stripper clip chest pouches advertised inexpensively, and they "kind of" look like the mid-chest arrangement of pouches shown in the pics from magfed556, but they would be designed specifically for the stripper clips for my SKS, yes?

Helpful hints?
