I got my Canned Garden Seeds

http://beprepared.comproduct.asp_Q_pn_E_FG S200_A_name_E_Garden Seeds

from Emergency Essentials back in 2008; and decided that I should test some
this year.

I planted : squash, carrots, beats, and romaine;
and all of them came up fine.

The squash are growing especially well !
Internet research on growing butternut squash called for soil
with a normal ph (7), but the only easy place to put them was
in my acidic blueberry patch, so that's what I did.
THEIR GROWTH IS EXPLOSIVE!
I haven't tested the actual ph of the soil there, but given the composition
of 40% peat moss, 1 pound of sulfer, and 1 pound of Holly Tone it must be
around 5.5

I have regular seeds that were in a box from 2005-2006. So far, everything has come up except the green beans, but I also had some a batch of fresh ones that didn't germinate, either. I tried several varieties of squash, carrots, beets and a few other things. Seeds can last lot longer than most people think!

Looks like the seeds sold at beprepared are priced right, though.

I agree.
There are a lot of non-hybrid seeds in that #10 can, and the foil bags are
resealable. Similar to zip lock bags.

I wonder what happens to the storage life of the seeds left in the bag after
it has been resealed ?

Keep the seeds dry, cool, they will last a long time. Carrot and onion have short lives. So do beans. Corn 'n others last years though. If it was me, I'd go to High Altitude Seeds if I lived in the mountain/desert short seasons.
