I just couldn't read the whole article. The thinly veiled hate is getting harder to deal with for me. I was taught to put out a generalization and then list facts to back it up. That whole article seemed like one generalization after another. The labeling of people is in most every sentence. 30 y o lesbian, hippy mom and on and on.

I attend the Gun Shows here in Orlando just to pick up a deal on a Shotgun I`m Not in need of. Ammo,Primers,Bullets and casings I have more than enough. Also, to gauge who is attending and that is worth the $10 bucks fee!. Last time there were about twenty MS-13 guys there followed by a Bunch of Uniforms and Plain Clothes, they soon disapeared!. Have my eye on an autoloadind 12 Ga Shottie and am doing research on what is best. Any help appreciated as my old Marlin Goose Gun is seriously Outdated!!. Thanks!.

The Crossroads of the West show was an annual event for Mrs. Fan and me. It had the same location and time as that huge Christmas and cooking bazaar, so we did both. Lots of fun.

The article was lame. I love that the media is finally willing to admit that we are not just far-right, white whack jobs. But, the assumption that the Jan 6ht "insurrection", George Floyd being "murdered", etc., is just the media propping up lies to validate itself. Barf.

Look, I don't care what your focus is in this world as far as prepping goes. Some very observant people push for things we don't like, but are still smart enough to figure out that things are very unstable, and there is not "safe place" going forward. So, they prepare. Big whoop. We've know this reality in the prepping community for ever. God bless them. If anyone thinks that only people exactly like them will survive, quite reading the media garbage, or watching Mystery Science Theater 3000 for your information on this all. Every type/flavor/orientation has people who understand the need for preps. Just because the media is only now willing to admit it (and that probably won't continue) doesn't mean that these "other" folks weren't aware and preparing before. That's just further media nonsense. There is a lot of that, really.

I am glad you said that. There is an older thread around here about being done with gunshows. If and when gunshows are done away with then people who complain about gunshows not being like old gunshows will be crying the blues about the loss. I don't go to many gunshows anymore but its mostly because they charge $10 to park and $10 to get in. Parking used to be free. Plus there just isn't that much I want anymore.

I didn't read the article but if people and I mean all people no matter there creed or color are getting on board with being prepared then thats a good thing. The more people that have supplies the less that will riot and and turn in to attackers and thieves.

To add: I went back and read the article and to me it wasn't as goofy as I expected it to be. Yes its a little liberal leaning and all inclusive by naming people who aren't stereotypical "Prepper" type people but it wasn't that bad. `

And he said what I was already thinking that the Covid 19 and riots and food shortages from a couple of years ago woke a lot of people up. And thats a good thing.

I lived in Lafayette CO for 13 years and what you wrote seemed pretty darn accurate to me!
Thanks guys and I am glad a few pretty much understand what I wrote and even remember at least remember somewhat about gun shows 30 even 40 plus years ago. I mainly went to the gun shows in Greeley, CO in the eighties until 1997 or so. It also seemed to me that at least in Greeley, the gun shows sort of or did disappear soon after the Columbine massacre.
I was simply posting about what i remember about the Greeley gun shows. I have not and I don't care about other areas and I really dont care even about Calirado since 2018 when I moved to probably the most Free state left - Wyoming
I should make Everything more clear but I rarely post anymore and have forgotten there are some who nit pick and Anal-lyze too much! All from me I think, in this thread.

I remember my first gunshow. I went with my dad. I was around 27 and he was about 50. Anyway as soon as we walked in he saw AMMO! LOTS AND LOTS OF AMMO! CHEAP!!! So he spent a lot of money buying many boxes of 38 and 357 and don't remember what all. Big mistake because we had just walked in. Then we had to carry all that ammo for the next two hours. That **** was heavy. But I learned a lesson. Buy ammo just before you leave. Or at least see if the seller will hold it for you until you leave.

I miss what gunshows were way back in the early days.

Speaking of accuracy and attention to detail - from the article mentioned:

People motivated by climate change, Ellis said, tend to be homesteaders who grow their own food and move to more "climate proof" locations, such as the mild summer haven of Duluth, Minnesota.
So, people who grow their own food and are worried about a possible 2.7 degree increase in global temps over their lifetime are "fleeing" to Duluth, where it stays below freezing 100+ days per year?
Yeah, right.
I think people who grow their own food are smart enough to know that plants grow better when it's warm and you get more food when the growing season is longer.
