The below link from warriortalk follows the same "aimpoint vs eotech" debate, but presents some pretty decent info regarding batteries, and battery life, etc.
According to the below, Aimpoint does not offer optics which take the "123" anymore..... Maybe you could get a good price on an older model somewhere?
