hello all, i'm new to this site although i've lurked here a little bit. i'm not exactly new to all this but i don't have a lot of actual experience. most of my knowledge so far is from what i learn on these types of sites and asking questions and discussing things with those more experienced than myself. so please bear with me and have a little patience if i seem to ask dumb questions. but like my drill seargent told me, the only dumb question is the one you don't ask.

a little more about myself - i served five years in the army as an mp, one year in pusan korea, four years in the 1st cavalry division and did a year in iraq with them. grew up in the country so i do know how to conduct myself in the woods.

First, thanks for your service.

Second, as I'm sure you know, experience comes with practice. I finally got around to trying the "cotton ball and Vaseline" fire-starters I've been reading about. Works like a charm, and I can't wait to use it somewhere beside my kitchen. :D:
