Okay, does anyone know where to get razor wire and what the best way to top a fence with it is? Preferably without needing medical attention when finished.

I have a large community center/park behind my house and when SHTF I will need to be stringing up something to help protect that part of my yard. I have dogs, guns, solar powered floodlights with motion detectors, but I would like some razor wire across there too. Any help would be appreciated.

What I would love to have here at my little plot in the city is a Spanish wall - saw them in New Orleans. A nice concrete wall with glass shards embedded in the top. Not sure that would be code here in Nanny State Virginia.

According to what I have read you need heavy protective gloves and face protection. Having only ever helped with Barbed wire installation at about knee level on a live stock fence I can't help you with the top fence mount. I can't help you there. trust me on the gloves though you'll need them. :

If I'm allowed when I move up north I want to buy some rolls to have on hand if the SHTF.
Thinking live thorn bush around the house followed by a ditch then a earthen ramp and just far enough you can't jump a ring of Razer wire hooked up to posts with maybe a little current running through it. . Everything else in place when ti does happen string the wire. Leaving the drive way as the way in. Not perfect but it might slow down a few

Bought a little bit back in the day when it was $89. a case of 6 rolls. It CAN be deployed by hand if you use a modicum of care. A good set of leather gloves is handy. Do NOT struggle if you get caught up in it or get "hooked"- be calm and patient and pull it free watching that another part doesn't hook you. The cuts can be pretty darn nasty

There is a special device to deploy it but I've only ever seen them in OLD catalogs of places like Phoenix systems. Never seen one in person or in use.

If someone gets in it, they not getting free QUICKLY.

razor wire is NASTY to work with and illegal in some states from what I have read, use barbed wire it is easier to get ahold of and MUCH cheaper and you can probably get it for free if you talk to a farmer.

If you wire it right you will keep people off of it, you can also dig trenches and put 2x4's with gutter nails in them and bury it with leaves or use fishing string with treble hooks

I have a million ideas lol, I have used ALOT of different methods and I feel sorry for anyone who trespasses in my yard

That was my plan but I could be busy with the front door when someone is knocking on the back door and one must be polite hence the current. I've gotten hit with an Electric fence before and I can't even imagine the pain from razor wire and an electric fence.

Just make sue you keep track of the location of the preps as you don't want to be in a hurry and step/walk in the wrong place.

I've installed miles of it. Use welding gloves and sleeves,facesheild,not too much loose clothes. Like someone else said, if you get hooked DON'T PULL BACK! Go slow at first,pay attention,you'll get used to handling it. We hooked it to 2 strands of tight barb wire with hog rings,you'll need 2 people. The more ya handle it you won't need so thick of gloves/sleeves. Stretch it out on the ground like a big slinky,grab in a section,put in place and have the other guy clip it. As to where to buy it i could'nt tell ya,I never ordered it.

You say you have dogs... make sure that the fence is high keep them away. Working with the stuff I spent some time as a combat engineer gloves are the key they are like welding gloves but with metal staples all along the palm and finger area making it easy to hold the stuff. I recommend long sleeves when you feel a tug back off and reverse the last direction you were moving in. As for breaching the stuff that could take a few pages on the art of it. For topping a wire fence make sure the fence can support the weight of a roll. You will probably need to reinforce your posts and upper Y braces as the added weight adds up fast.

I have an 8 foot tall fence and 15 inch tall beagles. The only way they would make it to the top of the fence is if I tied some food up there. Beagles can ALWAYS get to the food.

If you want to put it on your fence your gonna need someone to help or develop a way to hold the wire spool up as you string it out stopping every foot or so to attach a piece of wire to the fence to hold the razer wire.

You could also just string it out across the ground but this will require multiple rows of wire to prevent someone from jumping over it. It can be done without getting cut but you will need to think 2 moves ahead so you don't find yourself needing stitches or possibly worse.
