I want to do some sort of rainwater storage system and the idea I have come up with is, well first some information.

On the back of my house I have a deck that sits 4' above ground and nothing underneath it, except some tools and such. On that same corner of the house there is a downspout, I had thought about burying a 2 or 300 gallon tank under the deck, it would be buried so I could still store the tools and such there, and also camoflage it. I would use a hand pump or smaller electric pump to pump water out for the garden, or potentially drinking water (after treatment of course).

Any thoughts? Ideas, improvements..

I didn't think I'd need it much during the winter so the bury depth would be minimal. Freeze line is 42" and I sure don't want to go that deep unless I have to.
Other than that the idea of burying it is only for camoflage, and asthetics.
