My step son and I planted a row of radishes about 20 feet long - this was 6 weeks ago. Well my step son pulled some of them up today and here are the pictures. This is just about two feet of a row 20 feet long. So what ever you see in the pictures, X's that by 8 is still in the ground.

Lets think about this - in a eotwawki situation, if you planted the radish seeds right then, this is what you would have just 6 weeks later. The WHOLE plant is edible so you have no waste.

I just noticed, in one of the pictures you can see the time on my watch - that is central time.

The fertilizer that was used is 13-13-13. The ground was tilled to a depth to about 8 inchs, the fertilizer was spread in the row, then tilled into the ground. The seeds were planted just barely under the soil.

Yes, you can use the tops in a salad or boil them up with some other greens, such as cabbage.

Turnips seeds are soooo small its very easy to over plant.
