I've been on a bit of a quest in the past year in an attempt to understand racial issues in America and this wide gap especially with White folks and Black folks.
I have read countless articles, watched hundreds of video's (on youtube) and talked with countless black folks face/face in an attempt to understand how they feel and why. Even confronting several black people in my own church and asking for their words of experience and wisdom. I've asked my wife hundreds of questions because she taught in all-black schools for over 25 years.
I was always amazed in the 90's when the OJ trail was going on and the divide was never more clearly presented. Nearly all blacks believed OJ was framed and to people like me (white) it was completely obvious he viciously murdered his ex-wife and Ron Goldman, no doubt about it. Yet we have this amazing divide with these two sets of lenses.
I've always felt I must be missing something. It's so hard for any of us to walk in another's shoes no matter how hard we try. I felt I did try the best I could. Most blacks people did want me to listen to their view point but were not interested in hearing my view and often quickly dismissed my opinions and experiences especially in the area of black crime.
Liberals are intellectual cowards and simply agree with nearly everything the extreme leftist black community says or does no matter how extreme. I even watched one video of a young white man licking the shoes of a black man while denouncing his evil white privilege and begging for forgiveness for his evil whiteness. So they weren't much help in a real way.
So I searched for middle ground and tried to try away from the extremes on both sides and just listen/read/watch.
My conclusion; there simply is no such thing as "black view" or "white view". There are variety of opinions from both ends of the spectrum to actual middle ground of agreement of social issues. IMO blacks do tend to adopt a more left-wing view point and see history very differently than the way I see it and many other white people. There is this deeply ingrained mistrust of white people in general that spills into a real hatred in some cases.
There are some amazing black conservatives out there who feel and see things like many here on the board do. People like Candace Owens, Herman Cain, Larry Elders, Don King, JC Watts, Lynn Swan, Karl Malone, Clarence Thomas, Armstrong Williams, Tony Dungy, Jimmy JJ Walker and on and on.
These folks (above) have serious problems with Rev. Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Maxine Waters, Whoopi Goldberg, Barack Obama etc.
But any way I would enjoy to hear your thoughts on this issue...
