3 guys went to a motel that was $30 per room.

They each payed $10.

The motel owner realized he made a mistake, it was only $25 per room.

He gave the bell hop $5 to give back to the men.

The bell hop gave each man $1 back, and kept $2.

So each man payed $9 for the room. (9 x 3 = $27)

Plus the $2 the bell hop kept. ($27 + $2 = $29)

Where's the missing dollar???

Simple, there is no missing dollar.
Stop focusing on $30
Each man paid $9 for the room, $9 x 3 men=$27
Hotel manager got $25 for the room
Bell boy got $2 for the tip
$25+ $2= $27
each man now has $1. $1 x 3men=$3
$3 + $27= $30
All money accounted for.

ETA: Sorry, I just can't see a math problem and not figure it out.

Seems more like a logic problem because one of the premises is faulty, that is, that each man paid $9 for the room. They actually end up each paying $8.33333 for the room and a $2 tip for the bell boy when all is said and done.
