So, I'm getting ready to carve the halloween pumpkins this evening. I always feel bad about throwing away the pumpkin seeds, but I just don't know what to do with them. And before you say "roast them" be forewarned that that is the only idea I've ever had about utilizing them, and I think roasted pumpkin seeds taste like a**. So, what else can I do with them?

Plant them somewhere. I usually throw leftover decorative pumpkins back along the tree line and the smash them down when they get mushy and lightly cover them with some dirt. Sometimes they grow sometimes they don't. Better than throwing them away I guess. And yes, I'll throw them out there after Halloween and get growth the next spring.

You do take the shells before you eat them, right?

I've tried about a bajillion different "kinds" of roasted pumpkin seeds. All of them tasted like a**.

The hippy burgers sound... interesting.. but I would be wiling to try em.

I also own no livestock currently, and have no real spot to have pumpkins in the yard.

So, yeah, keep the ideas coming. I let ya know what I end up doing with them.

lol... yeah, that's the way the kids are saying it these days.

Things can also smell like a**.

Probably a product of leniency where you can't say s**t, but a** isn't quite that bad. Haha.

well, jeepers, if you ain't gonna eat them, feed them, or plant them I'm fresh out of ideas.
Well, I would eat them if I could find something yummy to do with them. Just roasted pumpkin seeds are not my thing. If I could put them into something like those burgers mentioned earlier, that would be cool. I'm open to any pumpkin seed recipes.

And, I would feed them if I had anything that would eat them. I don't think my cat would appreciate it if I stuck a bunch of pumpkin seeds in his bowl though... Is there anything wild that might eat the seeds? If I strung them up to a tree would some creatures be happy to take them for a meal?

Planting them.. Yeah, I just can't seem to justify using the space in my yard for something that I rarely use. The only pumpkin dish that I can even think of is pumpkin pie! Maybe if I had some more nummy pumpkin recipes I'd consider it...

Maybe I'm just too picky...
