I finally got everything squared away and after receiving my replacement rifle from PTR and getting my scope set up properly and all that other business knocked out I took advantage of the 'warm' (35 degrees ;)) weather we had today and went out to shoot some groups.

I had zeroed the rifle at 25m and after figuring out where the POI was for 100 I went for groups. This was the third group I shot. As you can see, the best group I got was about the size of a quarter at 100m, maybe a hair smaller.

I was shooting British Radway Green ammo from a 75-round pack (I ended up shooting the whole pack off today with only 2 failure to extracts during the whole day). I know from shooting at the 25m with the RG prior that my groups were not as tight as with the Remington or Federal ammo. I am going to have to record some groups with the better ammo to see if I can pull off a sub-MOA group. I am still getting used to the trigger and I was having some trouble steadying myself (kept getting 2 nice shots and then a flyer about .5-1" away from the others). I think this rifle definitely has the makings of a real fine shooter and I am more than happy right now ;)

Since the site hosting my piccs seems down I am attaching a photo directly as well...

I have been to there factory about three time and used to go to the range they test fired on.The g3 type rifles are picky about ammo.

The PTR rifles are actually made with closer tolerances then the original G3 rifle. My best friend has a ptr that is about 3 years old ...PTR91K.... and his runs fine thusfar, he primarily uses British Radway Green and Australian Hirtenberger....

Hot Damn GOFO, :thumb:

Thats what I'am talking about. Keep up the good work. If they get any closer than that with better ammo. There will only be one hole. :D:

May have to look into one of those after all.

cool glad to read it's all coming together....what scope and mount system are you useing?
Just my trusty Leupold VX1 3-9x40mm (thinking about upgrading that). Scope is sitting on lo-pro rings on an AR rail riser attached to the welded receiver rail.

That is a good question. I would like something with adjustable turrets for yardage/windage and a bit more power. Leupold's are excellent optics and have never done me wrong but I can not afford the price of a Mk.4 :(

I was actually considering a Millet Tactical (believe it is 4-16x or something like that and has the adjustable turrets). But I am not sure if they are junk or not. I was kind of hoping to be able to see one in person at an upcoming gunshow to check the eye relief and clarity. From reviews they supposedly hold zero.

Just thinking at this point, I am also keeping an eye on samplelist.com (awesome optics opportunities on new/demo/refurbished optics).

They certainly look the part ;)

I could see going about $500 on a scope but I would want to make sure it was worth it. I am kind of chicken **** when it comes to buying optics and usually don't stray from one of 3 brands (leupold, aimpoint, eotech).

I haven't been too impressed with anything Trijicon has made to be honest with you. I find the illumination to be less than desirable, seems a bit star patterned to me and not very crisp. For the price you would think it would be better, especially on the ACOG's. But everyone else in the world seems to like them so maybe it is just me lol.

I will probably put around for a year or so with what I have unless I stumble upon a heck of a deal. Too many choices and there are a whole lot of bad ones in the mix ;)

cool, thanks for the review on the ACOG,i am currently raiseing the cash for glass and these are just some of the ones i have been looking at,the counter sniper name sounds corny but the reviews i read at midway were intresting and conviced me they may be a good entry level for dare i say ''tactical'' :D:

night force has always been excellent as far as i know (you get what you pay for) and i would be intrested in anyones review of these............
