Hi,

so I recently acquired a new M14, and I am having a hell of a time figuring the proper sight picture. the rear peep sight aperture, when I look through it, is giant compared to the front blade. I can see a good 0.25" of daylight around the front sight... where do you line up the sight picture from???

front post should be dead center of your rear peep sight. If you have problems centering it due to eye relief, consider an aftermarket stock with different length of pull to adjust where your cheek weld will be in relation to the rear sight. But please, don't chop your original stock!

For my eye relief, the left and right tangs of the front post are pretty much meeting the blurred edge of the rear peep. I can usually find my natural point of aim with a M14 type rifle quickly just by knowing this and feeling the tangs into position, then focusing on the front sight to get a good sight alignment.
