In my Biden voice. Come on man! It’s a heater. You know. It’s one of those things. Those things that well, uh, you know what they do. They uh, bake cookies or wash your car, uh, or uh, something like that. Come on man!

Oh, if they stop working, it’s, uh, Donald Trumps fault. He conspired with the space aliens to break your heater. Come on man!

Mine is the big buddy ...... runs on up to 2 one pounders .... or the bulk tank.
Mine if for back up heat in the home or camp or camper.
They are as safe as they can be when working correctly and no reason to not have a CO detector with anything that produces a flame.
Lots of folks here using them and lots of talk about them.

I suggest if you go with the bulk tank .... get their inline filter regardless of what the hose claims.
"some hoses claim no filter needed"
I dunno about that ..................
Yup, inline filter!
Buy from any local hardware or farm supply for under
$10

That looks like it , that guy CJ67??? I think is the correct name , had some trouble getting them for cheap but he over in the UK I believe.
But in the U.S many places sell them
Yep I had big Issues getting the filters and the Hoses and the Heaters, In the end I bought my Portable Buddy and the Filter from the US, here they are 3 or 4 times the price where that little filter is over $120 USD,
I've seen the Big Buddy for 5 to 600 Dollars USD, @£517.27p OR $631.07c USD.

These 3 Items should be here in a week or so, But I already have the Little Buddy and the Filter which I Ordered a month or two ago,

I just paid £264.73p for the Big Buddy which is equal to $322.97c USD including shipping from the US and I think that involves Import Duty as well,

The 10ft Hose Non Filter Type P/N F273704 is also on the way over from the US, This has cost me £56.81p OR $69.30c USD,

And I have also ordered the 12ft Hose with the Regulator with the Quick Couple Connecter P/N F271803 For the Big Buddy, Having a Regulator Built in to the Hose Mr Heater say it does not need a Filter and there is no way for you to fit a filter with this Hose setup, But It is also on the way from the US and it has cost me, £97.03p OR $118.37c, Some of these Items I can't even get here and the Only place I have seen some parts they want 3 to 4 time the US Price and Double what I paid including freight from the US, which is a Joke,

I'd rather give my money to folks in the US who deserve it than these thieving :poop: Over here.

I used to use mine in my VW when it was cold; much more efficient to use the hose as noted. Just use common sense and provide some ventilation (and make sure that your vent doesn't get clogged, i.e. snowfall) and you'll be fine. I only slept with it on a couple of times when it was really cold but prefer to use it to heat up the space before going to bed then again before getting out of bed. They aren't that efficient and will empty those 1# bottles pretty quickly.

Mr. heater Buddy and Big Buddy have been sold for at least the last 20 years.
Probably a million units?? Just a guess. if they had problems they'd be long gone.
Use common sense.

A friend of mine has the Big Buddy, he swears by it. Uses it to heat a bedroom, but, being portable,
if he needs to work in his cold garage, in January, his Big Buddy comes to the rescue.
He has nothing but praise for it. He also uses a bulk tank, except when he just wants to heat up a bedroom for an hour, then he uses the 1 pounders, for convenience.

I have a couple and yes get a CO detector. The Mr. Heater Buddy comes with a low oxygen sensor. That said, having a CO detector adds a layer of protection.

I would recommend doing some research before using a larger tank and hose or buy the hose and fittings from the manufacturer. If I understand it correctly propane will leach oils from some types/brands of hoses and over time damage the heater.

That's what a filter is for. I would get the type of hose that doesn't require a filter.

I use the big buddy heater in my ice house for heat. I use a hose and filter and connect to a 20 pound tank. -20 zero outside and I’m sitting in a tee shirt. They really work great. These have a low oxygen sensor in them and shuts of the gas if your area is too sealed up. I also use a CO detector. If you use one of these be sure to use the correct hose and run with a inline filter.
